Aggressive tire w/minimal or no noise?

Good looking tires guys. I'm still looking for something a little more aggressive. Something with a chunkier, more aggressive sidewall, like the Toyo M/T have.

Side note, does anyone have the Toyo R/T? Particulary 33x12.50x20? I'm really liking the look of them. Anyone have experience with them? Noise?

I do like those KO2s, the only thing I'm a little on the fence about is how they dip in where the top tread meets the sidewall. The tire almost looks like they're classic A/T with a different sidewall.

Well the chunkier the tire you get, the louder they are going to be.

I've heard the Toyo's start to howl after a few thousand miles....so I'd do some more research on them.

The R/T has a beefy sidewall like the M/T, but a less aggressive tread. I would think the tread would have more bearing on noise than the sidewall. My M/T are brand new and made noise from day 1. They're not obnoxious, just more than I care to tolerate. I had Boggers 15 years ago and those were noisy!

So the R/T (not M/T) is known to make noise after they "break in"? Bummer.

Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx LT 265/70R17 - $210/tire

The central tread resembles an AT tread pattern while the outside edges have a mud tread. They look mean but ride smooth and quiet, especially on the highway. The only time they make noise is during low speed turns when the front tires start to camber. I've had mine for 5000 miles -- still quiet and wearing nicely. I also like that the ST Maxx isn't so common. It seems like every truck is running BFG's or Toyos.

Big voids, Big noise. That's the way it works. No free lunches.

You may have noticed that your tires were relatively quiet when new. Then as they wear, they get louder. Anyone doesn't think so, get a db meter and measure the cabin noise on a piece of highway or two when the tires are new, then do the same when you have 20-30,000 miles on them. Do it again at the end of their life. Rotate them all you want. They get noisier as time goes by.

If you wanted Toyo MT's but don't want the noise get the new RT's. Phenominal tire but a lot quiter on the road.

I hear the Toyo RT is pretty quiet. I was looking at these when I do my lift. Nitto Trail grapplers are supposed to be quieter too, but I have heard conflicting stories on wear.

The trail grapplers? Quiet? You must've heard that from someone who had their entire vehicle dynamatted cause every truck I've rode in with trail grapplers, was LOUD

The terra grappler is another story however

To the OP, I am getting some Mickey Thompson Deegan 38s and I've heard that they are really quiet for an MT cause of the tight inner tread pattern. They are arriving at the end of this week but I'm leaving Friday for vacation but will post how they are as soon as I can

Deegan 38's are not super quiet but for a mt they ain't bad. A bit quieter than my toyo mt's

Yea I knew they wouldn't be too quiet just cause of the aggressive tread. But hopefully it's not too bad. The Toyo MTs aren't too bad so if they are better than those then I'll be happy
