How many trucks DONT vibrate?

All the truck manufacturers of LD trucks have some issues of their trucks vibrating. F-150forum.com, Tacomaworld.com, Tundrasolutions.com and the Ram forums where I don't venture.....do a search, there are quite a few complaints across all manufacturer boards of vibration. Don't take the sampling of issues here as a reflection overall of these trucks. My current Silverado is on par with my previous 2007 Tacoma in terms of any issues and recalls. Some of the complainers here, are just looking for validation to move on to a new vehicle or have buyers remorse for not buying the right model truck.

I have owned them all none of the trucks I have owned vibrated. even my 2015 Sierra I've owned Fords Chevys, This GMC , Nissan Frontier and Titan, Toyota etc. None of them vibrated. Not since my 1978 Chevy which was a tire issue from new.

Just wait till you buy a lemon that GM will deny is one. You will be singing a different tune then.

I guess we'll just have to wait for that one to come along. Owned 19 GM vehicles so far and all is good! :thumbs:

Used truck to take some additional furniture to my son's college apartment this past weekend. Over 250 miles on Ga's worst interstate, I16. Truck did great with no vibration or shaking.

Put plenty of miles on plenty of vehicles over the years. Some good miles, some not so good miles. My Sierra rides as smooth and quiet as the Acura RLX I traded in.

Yup, me neither....my Tacoma didn't vibrate and neither does my Silverado. However visit the Tacoma forums and there are just as many complaints there as here of vibration issues. Same goes for the F-150.

I wonder if the trucks that have a vibration issue have anything in common. Eg. V-6 vs V-8, 3.08 vs 3.42, 4x2 vs 4x4. Or is it like the control arms steel vs aluminium having zero rhyme or reason.

One thing I can assure you , if it vibrates, there is something wrong with it.

i believe its all cost cutting measures the manufacturers are taking. Just like the "Clunk when shifting from d to r or r to d. Never had any truck do it but this GMC... tried 8 others and they all did it. You would think GM would tighten the tolerances in the drive train to eliminate that clunk for quality sound if for nothing else. just makes the vehicle sound cheaper. i have read many posts about issues. All companies are doing this. they issue a TSB if it shows up enough to avoid spending more money correcting the issues. Hey as long as it makes it through warranty without breakdown they are happy after that your on your own. Im sure all the companies have these cost cutting measures but The way I see it if they can suddenly sell trucks for $10k to $12K factory discounts and the Dealers still make money , why the cost cutting measures at all. They are certainly charging us all enough for these trucks when you see the MSRP. I still say they should operate like the Sticker Price indicates. Unfortunately what most campanies do as I saw with my ex-wife's toyota , they just keep replacing the defective part with no upgrade until warranty ends then when it breaks its your deal. Then they do a redesign and will address the issue on the redesign seen this with Toyota Harley-Davidson first hand. The others I have been fortunate enough not to have any issues . I can honestly say I've owned 27 new vehicles int he past 9 years between my wife and myself and have only had two with any kind of quality control issue. I agree his is very low but the ones that do should be taken care of for the current owner by an updated part etc. not a redesign for the next model year. Just like the HD radio in these current trucks? why did it go away, yet coming back in 2016? What about us current owners? For the price they ask for these vehicles they need to correct the issues not wave a magic wand and say it's normal.

One thing I can assure you , if it vibrates, there is something wrong with it.

That's stating the obvious. Vibrating is the exception not the norm as I have stated; however, as I also mentioned, other manufacturers have complaints of this issue too and it's possible this issue is to difficult to narrow down to 1 particular cause for Technical Engineers and the mechanics.

 

From the naked eye, it seems that more of the complaints come from Crew Cab owners, just like the Toyota and Ford forums. With the Tacoma the issue was the 2 piece drive shaft on the 4wd's and the solution most owners discovered was to get a Tom Woods 1 piece driveshaft. I think inherently it's not necessarily a cost cutting measure, but the fact cabs on trucks are getting bigger and the beds smaller coupled with lighter bodies, this must cause an imbalance in the design which may cause a driveline vibration in some trucks....probably a necessity for tighter tolerances in the balancing of the driveshaft, but what do I know, I'm not a Mechanical or Structural Engineer.

Maybe it has something to do with the build date - mine is stamped 04/15.

My 2013 Tacoma vibrated. The water in the water bottle would just slosh around while driving.

It has nothing to do with your build date. My build date is 10/13 and is silky smooth. Neighbors CC has a build date of 07/13 and is smooth.

      I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.

      Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
