Spiders?

I've owned a LOT of cars over the years, and I've never had an issue with spiders in/on them. So, I'm wondering if this might be something unique to the GM trucks and where they're coming from.

My '15 Sierra had a small yellowish spider inside of the cabin that would hide between the glass (windshield) and trim pieces (dash, pillar, etc.). No matter how much I tried, I couldn't catch it to evict it.

Had that truck six months and now I have a '15 Silverado. I've found no less than three spiders with this one and I've only had it three weeks. I supposed that at least one of the spiders could have showed up multiple times, but it still seems odd that I've never experienced this before.

So, I'm wondering if anyone else is noticing small, yellowish spiders in or on their trucks.

Nope. I think its probably more of an issue with the yard its parked in. May need to call critter gitter and have the yard sprayed

I've had a number of different vehicles parked in this yard, and have never seen these before. It was odd that they showed up in both trucks but never before.

It's a yellowish, even color. Fairly small. If I see it again, I can try to get a picture. Without knowing what the spider is, though, there's no way to know whether it poses any risk.

I personally wouldn't wait any longer.. spiders lay eggs. It's probly what it did who knows.. eggs hatch eventually. Gosh be careful

The only reason I even bring it up is because both trucks were bought brand new. Granted, the Sierra sat on the dealer lot for four months, but the Silverado came off the hauler on Monday and was delivered to me on Tuesday (9/1). And I've already seen a spider a few times. In a vehicle that's been around a while, spiders getting inside are somewhat common, especially if the vehicle is not kept REALLY really clean inside. But, these are both new. There's nothing in there for a food source, so I'm confused as to where they would have come from.

Side story...This happened in 1987 before YouTube and such. Wife and I were still fairly new Newlyweds and having our first home built. We had driven out to look at cleared site and she was driving back to town to eat supper. I looked over and she had this huge caterpillar crawling on her leg. I knew if I pointed it out, I'd likely be a dead man. So, I calmly ask her to pull over into the next parking lot. She laughs and says she'll slow down and drive more careful. I ask her again adding a "Seriously" to it. So, she pulls over and stops car. After it is in park I tell her to get out of the car. Now, she is like all bewildered with no idea if I'm about to leave her there or what. She gets out and I say "Now, brush that caterpillar off your leg." She looks down and does this crazy dance while yelling and screaming. It was hilarious and I was still alive :)

The spider you speak of is the Yellow Sac Spider. It is a very VERY common issue. It has nothing to do with the trucks... more likely to do with your use of the trucks. Do you often park in spider rich areas... such as under/near trees and/or bushes, or perhaps in an underground parking garage? Do you often leave your windows/sunroof open or cracked? Do you also have said spiders in/around your home or garage?

More info that you care to know about yellow sac spider infestations

Mazda and Toyota actually both issued recalls because spiders liked their vehicles so much

Honestly, I believe there's a chance of that being the specific species in question here. But NOTHING has changed in the last five years except that it has been two NEW trucks from GM. The Used MDX, new Tundra, used TL, Used Flex(es), new Fusion, and used Explorer didn't have an issue. The new Traverse doesn't have an issue.

Park in the same places, don't leave windows open (my wife does, she doesn't have an issue), no sunroof, not near bushes, three large poplars are 75' away... NOT a spider-rich environment in general. It's really odd that this showed up like this...
