serious question on tune

I can tell you right now, your dealer us not using anything GM approved or any of the GM programs to do this. I have confirmed this thru the GM engineers and several people on this forum that are dealer mechanics and work on these trucks have confirmed this as well.

 

Believe what you want, it is all moot as calibrating for tire size change if done correctly would not cause any issues with warranty at all even if GM did verify the calibration details.

As the frozen song goes let it go. Not worth arguing.

I'm on the Diablo fence as well right now....partly to update my tire size for speedo correction (went from 275/55/20 to 35x12.5x20) and I'd like a little HP/torque increase to offset the heavier wheels/tires but not go crazy and kill the trans or engine. So after lots of reading, two simple questions for experienced Diablo users (non Lew custom tunes as I'm considering that too):

 

1. Thing I like about Diablo is ability to return to "stock" before service but does anyone Known, for a fact, if GM can tell that the ECM was adjusted even if it's back to your factory profile?

 

2. Can you adjust for more HP/torque without maxing out? (To avoid burning up trans/engine)?

These 2014+ trucks have a flash counter so whenever you flash a tune or back to stock it will be counted .

So the flash counter... it just counts how many times it's been flashed? I am the damn GM of a dealership, if I want to use the GM approved equipment that my Gm shop owns to reflash my truck 300 times and not change a thing, who's to say I shouldn't do that? That would run up my flash counter wouldn't it? I have access to all of the equipment in my shop and a reasonable understanding to run it all. So what good is a flash counter if I never touch my truck with an aftermarket tuner but fiddle with it every weekend?

 

My point being, I'd argue it if my DSM says my truck was reflashed with anything non-authorized if they can't find it because it was put back to stock.

 

Any thoughts on this?

I like the DiabloSport because the tune can be easily removed anytime. I can reprogram for tires myself. And if by chance I go even larger or back to stock size in the future I don't have to pay the dealer each time to fix the speedo.

 

They claim it can't be detected but who knows. Plenty of arguments both ways in a number of other threads. In the end if you tune you are taking a risk. The risk to me feels low. I've never had an engine blow, never really read about it happening on here and getting denied warranty. I see more guys with totaled trucks and such from accidents on here so to me that's a higher risk just driving down the road.

 

I like the canned tunes, easy to install, give you a nice bump in power feeling, shifts better than stock. You can move it to another truck (which I've done). Worth the few hundred bucks to me.

I'm still on the fence on tuning. I WANT to do it, but just struggle with the whole putting my warranty in jeopardy thing. I read both ways, "it will void your warranty"/"It won't void your warranty" blah, blah, blah. If I do decide to do it, I am leaning toward a canned tune as i just don't have time to mess with all the custom tune set up work. So, what does everyone recommend if using a canned tune?

I pulled the trigger last night and got the Diablo InTune i2030 . . . guess we'll see how well it does once it arrives.

I just had a DiabloSport tune done by my dealer. 87Octane, DOD off, Hard Shift.

So far loving it.

I'm running the intune i2 Diablo tune , firm shift , dod off , TM off , throttle boost at 15% . Runs great and still get good mileage

You can go to your dealer at least I can and buy a hypertech tuner that's made to adjust tire size for speedo and mpg reader will not void warranty as it does not change how the truck performs this is what they use on the pre lifted cookie cutter trucks

Got the Diablo intune i2 delivered today. Threw a modified version of the Diablo tune on the truck and I am very pleased. Took about 15 mins or so and the power of the 6.2 is back....actually feels faster than it did before the heavier wheels and tires were added.

 

Did 15% on throttle boost, 10% on WOT Fuel at all three rpm options, turned off the speed limiter, and adjusted for larger tire size. Didn't max out any of the settings and it drives just how I wanted.

Yes, I know... quoting my own post. Anyone have any thoughts on the flash counter as above?

I was wondering how they do the pre lifted trucks. Every dealer around here sells them with warranty from what Ive seen.

I have a Diablo and keep going back and forth on using it. I definetley have the warranty issue but really without having it hooked up I can't see all the option s even on a canned tune and the unknown bothers me. I need someone that I can talk with about this around to get my questions out without getting lost in threads.

Is there a good thread where folks are comparing notes on what they are running in a diablo tuner?

 

I just got mine today and am unsure of what to choose for some of the settings.

 

I put in the diablo tune with dod off, tm off, 8% throttle boost, and left pretty much everything else alone.

 

What should I use for throttle boost and why?
