OK, Well it's apparently an official recall now. I just checked a few of the truck from the guys I work with and just a couple have the recall. One 14 crew cab built in US and dbl cab 14. And it's recall 15036.

Mines a 14 LTZ Double Cab, and I got the recall letter. Called Dealership this morning and they don't have the parts. They gave me an appointment for 3 weeks out and assured me they'll have my new hitch by then. Right!

So are these hitches they are putting on for the recall new or refurbished ? The original hitch that's on my truck is rust and scratch free.. Hopefully my new one will be the same ?

Just had mine replaced and it looks like new. Haven't checked real close but appears powder coated.

I still don't have the recall scheduled my first oil change and asked about it. They said no recalls on my truck at this time. Mine is a 15' I forgot but believe a build date of 8/15 if it helps anyone.

I just called the Chevrolet dealer girl on the phone said that they are going to look at it first to see if it needs to be replaced at this time? I told her my letter specifically states that the hitch is going to be removed and replaced. she once again said that they will inspect it to see if it is cracking or coming apart I asked her who's going to take accept the liability if it comes apart?? I really hope they are not going to jerk people around with this.

Take your sig pic with you and say "are you going to take responsibility when this thing lets go?"

Will add this to the list for dealer service next week. Mine is different situation as its a '14 1500 crew, but the GM hitch was installed 1 year later from dealer. In this case, it needs to go by the product code, not the vehicle VIN.

2015 here with the same build date and no recall.

My 2014 GMC Sierra Regular Cab Long Bed 5.3 Z71 4WD 3.42 gearing (NO NHT Max Trailering Package) is on the hitch recall list per https://my.gm.com/recalls. Also verified with my dealer.

I have not received any notification from GM about the recall. My truck was delivered to dealer in late June, 2014 and final assembly per window sticker was Roanoke, IN.

I purchased the truck in August of 2014. I tow a tandem axle 16 Ft flatbed trailer maybe half a dozen times per year with my 1,000 pound John Derre 4WD tractor on board

or various other items. I made an appointment with the dealer later this month to replace the hitch. No pre-inspection was mentioned. My dealer service dept stated they

do not have any hitches available currently but should have by the time my appt rolls around.

Hope this goes smoothly. Thanks all for your input and dealer experiences.

I had mine done this week. I just took a quick look but it seems brand new or at least fully reconditioned and powder coated. No rust on it. It took 3 weeks from the time I first went in to request the new hitch until it came in. For the install, I waited on the truck and I was in and out in 1h 35min.

I picked up my '16 Silverado CC LTZ on Saturday. While I am not involved in this recall I have an issue with my hitch. I put my hitch cover on and tried to put the lock on it and the lock wouldn't lock.

After some investigation this is what I found.

When they welded mine together they didn't center the "pin" hole correctly so the dumbells of the lock can't sit flush against the pin hole so the lock shaft it too short to lock.

The dealer I bought from (a friend is 270 miles away) they said they would swap it out or I could take it to a dealer closer to me and they would do it under warranty.

So lame that they can't weld a $300 part correctly on a $50K truck.

So it sounds like I will probably have a wait to get this hitch replaced since GM is gonna have a bunch of hitches to replace.

Unless it is a completely different part number. I guess the dealer will be able to tell me.

Getting my new hitch on Friday. I guess I will check it out really close before I leave the dealership, can't have my lock not fitting onto the pin!

Just got my new hitch this morning. It is alright but has lots of welding shavings on the top of the square and some small rust spots on a few corners, about the same as my original hitch. I will do like I did on my original and sand the small rust spots and touch up with primer/paint before it spreads.
