I'm just speculating because as it's been shown on here that it's all over the place on rather someone has the recall or not.

That is for sure.

I just hope they know 100% for sure which ones need the recall and which ones don't. If mine comes apart there will be a problem. ..lol.

I did crawl under my truck yesterday and looked at the hitch and it seems fine. All welds looked good, but that does not mean they are sound.

I looked at mine too. I couldn't see anything obvious, and it "looked" OK.

It was in fact replaced.

I've looked on the GM and Chevy recall sites and also called 2 dealers and not on the list any of the times. Mine was build early November of 2013 at the Fort Wayne IN plant. I'm sure the hitch is one of those things that are maybe scanned with a barcode so they know the exact hitch that went on that certain truck. I'm just speculating because as it's been shown on here that it's all over the place on rather someone has the recall or not.

That is very strange because mine was built in December of 2013 in Indiana. The only difference in our truck is that mine has a 3.42 rear gear and I have the OEM trailer brake controller (don't know if you have that or not). I checked mine on this site https://my.chevrolet.com/recalls I also called my local dealer again yesterday and they are very slow to get the replacement hitches in, said about on a week on average. Told me to call back in a few weeks.

I checked that site and also https://my.gm.com/recallswhich since both are designed the same it's all synced to the same info. I also called 2 dealers. I did wonder if me having the dumbass 3.08s that its not on there since the tow rating is so much lower.

I just called the Chevrolet dealer girl on the phone said that they are going to look at it first to see if it needs to be replaced at this time? I told her my letter specifically states that the hitch is going to be removed and replaced. she once again said that they will inspect it to see if it is cracking or coming apart I asked her who's going to take accept the liability if it comes apart?? I really hope they are not going to jerk people around with this.

I received the letter from GM about this today. When I look up my VIN, GM's recall site does show a recall for this issue.

My truck is an NHT truck, so they aren't exempt from the recall.

Didn't read all 16 pages but I guess I have a very proactive dealership. They called me Monday to let me know my truck had two recalls. One for the trailer hitch and another for a TCM update to fix 4WD not disengaging. Dropped the truck off this morning at 8am and by 1pm it was ready with a new hitch and TCM update.

My truck has the 3.42 gears and mine is not on the list so it's not about your 3.08s. I understand you're concern though with so many getting replaced. Typically GM customer service posts in threads like this, but they are nowhere to be found here. How about some reassurance for those of us not on the recall list GM?

Just call my Chevy dealer asked about recall I told him I have the z82 code in my glove box he looked up my vin# and told me I had no recalls on my 15 LTZ Z71?

More than likely if your dealer tells you you're not on the list, you check and your VIN doesn't show its listed, and you don't receive anything in the mail, there is a 100% chance your hitch is fine.

I had the same recall. Dealer installed my new hitch last night. That along with an oil change & I was out the door in 1 1/2 hrs.

So they cannot even get the hitch welded right? I should have known, it is probably made in China. Nobody in the USA could possibly weld one together. We as a nation have absolutely lost all our skills.

I wonder what kind of nondestructive examination they do on the hitch critical welds. Probably none.

Aren't these trucks are made in Mexico and Canada.
