2016 Sierra Denali Missing Features - Why? Auto braking, adapt CC etc.

Yes, the Yukon Denali has a lot of those features standard. It's starting price point is also $14K higher than the Sierra Denali. They gotta throw more features in the SUV to keep people attracted to the higher margin SUV. :)

Good point..

Gm seems to always be late with the features in the truck. Not sure why because it sure ain't to perfect them lol

Sigh, why not just team up with Mercedes and take their S-class and change the body? Can have all the little fragile gizmos ya'lls heart desires in a car err I mean truck. Then we can hear even more complaints on why a mid level truck costs 60k with barely any options.

All the image conscious suburban dads have been driving up the costs of trucks immensely in the last decade. The design and research for wasted things like cooled seats, memory chairs/steering wheel, HID head lights, adaptive shocks, auto park, panoramic sunroofs and so forth add up big time; those costs have to be spread out across the line. Not to mention every person and their mother buying 4wd and never needing it but it "makes a point" as someone mentioned once, GM knows they can sell it for a huge premium which is why it is now an almost 4k option depending on trim levels.

Much prefer it that way. The halogen reflector housing is the way to go. Cheap, works great, fills in the front of the trucks (tiny thin headlights look silly on trucks) and if a headlight goes out it is a $30 bulb or $150 ish dollar headlight, not $300+ bulb and god know how much for an LED headlight housing.

Unfortunately we will never be at those levels again, not looking forward to picking up my 2024ish model at $61k OTD for an LT/SLE.

Options, hence some of us would pay for it, if you want a base truck then buy one, considering GM along with all brands offer them still. I agree with the OP, Fords offer a lot of the options I listed above for about the same price point as our Sierra Denali's, clients & competition drives technology and pricing. If you cant afford the options not my problem.

Don't even get me started on Mercedes Benz features, options like infrared night vision and such, you have no idea what's coming in the next 5-10 years, better get used to high end trucks and topics like this.

you guys say GM Is behind technology by 2-3 years, In some case's its more like 10-15 years. GM is a powertrain guru, IMO they make the best practical engines and are far more universal. (try replacing a new Mercedes Benz engine for under 20-30K in some cases up to 60+K for the engine)

Lastly Halogen reflector is junk design scatters light (when guys install HID's or LED's its blinding and uncontrolled), you didn't even mention in large city's the light pollution, going to LED's to save power and the glare at night sometimes makes driving difficult, which can mess up sensors for anonymous driving and our human eyes, another example is the sunlight that trips our collision alert systems. The projector lens is superior can use Halogen, HID, LED, heck even laser bulbs and focus the light better, all the GM trucks 2007.5-2013 the halogens are horrible, esp since 90% of all the owners from 2007.5-2015 complain the headlights offer poor visibility. The newly revised headlights are much improved.

And once GM does offer the options this thread is seeking, the other threads will be "GM wants $90,000 for a new truck" or "Pushbutton start killed my senior parents that forgot to shut it off when they parked in their attached garage" or "Who can help me put the $14,000 options into my base V6 truck for cheap"

You can't make everyone happy, Gm just strives for a happy medium

You poor thing... I hope you don't have to do any actual work with that truck after the manual steering tilt and telescope has worn you out.

God forbid you actually pay attention when driving so you don't need an emergency braking system or adaptive cruise control. All that these "safety" systems do is make people less aware because you want to count on the vehicle to drive for you so you become lazy. And oh my God, I hope you don't get tired out from moving the steering wheel yourself.

I can understand both sides of the argument here and it's a tough one. Like a lot of guys are saying it's a truck designed to work and I believe that should always be at the core. Also everyone on here has gotta know GM has mastered the art of rebadging and we have been drinking their juice for decades. I drive a Denali but know full well I paid a premium for a fancy grill and some extra stitching on my head rest. I did my homework and knew that even the Denali didn't have all that fancy stuff but I bought it anyways because I think it's awesome. I don't need a truck for my work but I fulfilled a dream and bought a bad ass truck and I don't really care if it has push button start. But I also understand why guys are a little pissed a 70k vehicle doesn't have the standard amenities a Kia Optima has. Just my take on it.

Ah the good ol it's a truck argument haha. I thought the same thing when I bought my 15 Denali and won't be buying the next gen unless it is at least on par with the other "trucks." You are god damn right if any of those features could help save the life of me or my family or heaven for bid any of the people on these forums who drive bench seat single cab long bed "real trucks" then yes I want them. No reason my family shouldn't be as safe as possible while driving my luxury pickup. Plenty of other shittier options for the people who want a "work truck" but some people actually want a luxury truck to be used as both a truck to tow and the tow their family around. Buy what you want nothing wrong with people spending their money on what they want.

Technology is trickling down and it is great, but GM needs to catch up. Denali should be Denali, straight from the General

Since 1999, Denali has remained the premium package for GMC vehicles. Step inside the cab of a SIERRA, Acadia, Yukon or Terrain Denali, and you'll experience firs-class appointments, CONTROL THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY, and the peace of mind knowing available ADVANCED SAFETY FEATURES surround you. Denali is the pinnacle of what it means to be Professional Grade

I think it is pretty much the same . Kind of like before airbags and seat belts became mandatory, people drove the same but if there was an accident they got ejected from the car or the steering wheel crushed their chest. Man I used to hate wearing my seat belt when I was younger, glad I never got into an accident.

Also while we're at it anything less then 900 ft of torque for the new 17 duramax would be a disappointment. And 380ft of torque is weak for your only gas HD engine. Stick the damn 6.2 in there and tone it down. GM is last in HD sales to ford and dodge. And with new SD coming out soon with the new Ram HD following a year later GM needs to step up and get some of that HD market back. Seems like they only care about 1500s now. Imho

Every damn fleet HD work truck I see is F series or HD ram

They could make the Dmax hit 1,000 lb ft & it would not matter much. Their issue is the dealer network refusing to stock & more importantly service HD diesel trucks. There are a few that have excelled, but not many. Here in central IL at my local dealerships, the Ram dealer will generally keep a dozen or so HD, Ford directly across the street from Chevrolet has 25-30 compared to 2 to 4 HD trucks on avg. GMC is across town, but roughly the same.

Just pulled up Laura GMC website since everyone on here talks about them & are located just north of St Louis, MO do a better job. 308 half tons & roughly 120 HD's. That is a good mix, though they are definitely an exception.

That's different though, that's safety features that wouldn't be able to control the vehicle. The systems I don't like are the ones that will make someone get so used to it that they don't pay as much attention to what they're doing because they figure the vehicle will make up for them not paying as much attention. I'm thinking about how people are these days. Most or at least some will rely on the vehicle to basically help them drive so they don't have to be as aware of what's going on around them. I know that nobody is perfect and nobody (including me) pays attention 100% of the time. These systems yes are to help with safety which I have nothing against of course, my point is that the way people are no a days they will get so used to it and rely on the vehicle to make up for them paying less attention so they think they will be able to mess with their phone safelty and so on. They will think "oh I'm ok to check my phone and mess with it since my car/truck will stop for me". That's just how people these days will think, of course not all but a good portion will.

People are already checking their phones and sending involved texts *without* these features. They already think they are such good drivers or multitaskers that they can drive well and screw with their phone, or that "it won't happen to them", even though they are routinely drifting out of their lanes while they try to send that "k c u n 5m" text message. And this occurs even with all the awareness campaigns about not doing just that or cities requiring hands free devices to try to prevent it. Hell, my commute to work is on a tollroad that has an 85mph speed limit in an area where its illegal to drive and use your phone, and I routinely get passed by someone that is messing with their phone at that rate of speed.

These people are going to continue to do that until statistics catch up with them. I'd rather the features like auto-braking and lane-keeping exist in cars so I run less of a chance of being hit by one of these people so I don't have to rely on those other safety features in my vehicle.

My point is that I think in my opinion that those systems will make it worse. I'm all for safety and I'm not against the systems themselves for what they're designed to do, I just think people will become more lazy and rely more on their vehicle to drive with those systems.

How can anything make it worse? How many accidents and deaths are caused each year from auto accidents? I don't see how you can say you are for safety and they say people will be more lazy. The question people should be asking is after some tests/statistics are cars safer when they have these new technologies or do we want to stop with the progression of technology because some people don't want to pay more or just "don't like it"

Humans already get tired, sick, distracted or are just plain shitty drivers etc and even with these new technologies there will be accidents and phantom alerts or what ever else, We have autopilot for planes, ships and I'm sure everything else. It will be standard on cars here real soon,

I think GMs main money makers are the higher end models like the HC and Denalis. Of course the other GM trucks sell very well too

For those that suggested I should have bought something else then (paraphrasing), I knew what I was getting and this is what I wanted. I just can't figure out for the life of me why these items are seemingly intentionally left out? It just doesn't make any sense...that's all.

Also, good points on the lack of rear vents and auto up/down for all windows.

Was looking through the Ford King ranch edition and it has all of these missing items and more like heated rear seats. But, I don't care for the fords. Just surprising with GMC trying to be the luxury truck maker of Chevy/GMC (GM) that they let the competition beat them out in a lot of features that they already were using in previous years on their Yukon's.

Again, just doesn't make sense.
