Im looking to purchase a 2016 sierra SLT, wanted a 6.2 with max towing package, but can't seem to find one anywhere. but looking at other options what is your guys baseline idea of what to pay. Say i found something similar to what Laura GMC has and my dealer came with 1k of that? you think thats a good deal?

Plenty of threads on pricing & discounts here for you to go through. Only reason I say that is every one may differ on what may be a good deal for them.

The $1k difference is up to you & pending how far away you were from Collinsville, IL.

Also if you put 6.2L in the search criteria of cars.com, it will out line a few. It also brings up false positives.

I would say why pay 1k more, if the dealer wants your business then they would want to make a deal especially with 17s coming out. Another thing to keep in mind the rebates change from different areas so maybe the 1k is in line with the pricing based on rebates.

Not sure how many trucks you plan on buying but 1k doesn't seem worth it for them to lose a customer for life. It isn't just the sale, it is the service relationship.

But if he has to fly there and then drive home he may spend close to that by the time it is all said and done so its a wash at that point.

Don't rush buying one as you don't won't to regret it after spending 45k or more. If you wait a few months you can order a 17 exactly like you want. I spent 280 on a plane ticket to get mine at Laura's and a 6 hr drive home but they had 1 of 12 in the whole country that had the exact options I wanted so it was worth it for me plus it was 5k under anyone else's price.

Good luck! The dealers know they are in such demand! They won't even call each other about trading like models either. Those trucks don't even sit on the lot my dealer told me!

Ok thank you, talking to the dealer today he said best option is to just order a 2017 exactly how you want. 6.2 with 3.42 gear, max towing package. And he said he can cancel one of his orders to get mine in immediately. Looks like I might go that route just don't know how it works when you take deliver of the truck with rebates and everything

Trailering pack is 3.42. The MAX trailering package is 3.73 I thought and hard to find I believe so would want to order with one. It adds 2000lbs GVRW up from 9000 to 11000 on the 5.3 not sure about 6.2 unless they are different and dont use the .73.

You get whatever incentives are available on the date you finalize the sale. Not likely to be much on a 2017.

8 Speed ratio for max trailering is 3.42. 6 Speed was 3.73.

I had to factory order mine, there were NONE on any dealer lots in Alberta.

Ok thank you guys looks like I will just be ordering it. 3.42 gears with the 6.2 with 8 speed trans. Should be a decent upgrade from my 2014. One question does CarPlay come standard? couldn't find anything on it when I was building online.

Not sure where you got that information but it is incorrect.....The 3.73 gears are a thing of the past. If someone were to need the lower 3.73 gears, you would have to find them in the aftermarket. With the 8-speed transmission, 3.42 is plenty of gear and it actually equals or is better than 6-speed with 3.73's.

OP,

Sit tight for a while and make a list of things you want. That way when it's 2017 order time, you get exactly what you want and need in your truck. No settling for a random truck off the dealership lot.

Ah Thanks I see the 8 speed trans is only 3.42. I guess that makes sense. But you are correct I know 3.73 was option on the 5.3L 6speed on 2015's the manual even states the 2000lb(correction 1800) GVRW difference. They were rare though, pretty much so if you seen one you should look underneath it for a pot of gold.

2015 - manual for dbl cab.

Engine/Axle Ratio/Maximum Trailer Weight ©/ GCWR (a)
4.3LV6 (b) 3.42 3 266 kg (7,200 lb) 5 806 kg (12,800 lb)
5.3LV8 3.08 2 812 kg (6,200 lb) 5 443 kg (12,000 lb)
5.3LV8 3.42 4 173 kg (9,200 lb) 6 804 kg (15,000 lb)
5.3LV8 3.73 4 990 kg (11,000 lb) 7 575 kg (16,700 lb)
6.2LV8 3.23 4 173 kg (9,200 lb) 6 804 kg (15,000 lb)
6.2LV8 3.42 5 398 kg (11,900 lb) 8 029 kg (17,700 lb)
So That means that the 6.2 can only pull 900 more lbs than a 5.3 with a 3.73. 900lbs is 900lbs though.

I would also agree with the other posters I would wait if you are going 2017. Sure would be nice to have one right away but I would not expect many discounts.
