New 2016 SLT crew cab questions

Hello, I just recently traded my 14 DC SLE in on a 16 CC SLT. It's an awesome truck! I have 2 questions that I can think of now.

1) Although I never used it in my 14 but I don't see the SD card slot in my 16. Did GM do away with this? All I see are USB ports now.

2) I have the upgraded LED headlights and was reading on here that they are sealed units. I looked at mine and don't see where the back comes off the replace the bulbs. If this is the case. What is the service life of these LEDs supposed to be? This kind of makes GM the sole supplier of these right now if you have to replace the whole unit.

No SD card on my 16. 2 extra usb ports in arm rest that have already stopped working after 6 weeks. Also it seems if you have the 16 with carplay you don't have the ability to pause live radio anymore. Haven't looked at the headlights yet

You nailed it on both parts OP

A+

*LED can potentially last the life of the truck or ~10-15 years. Of course by then there will be directional laser and better which is already being used in Europe.

SD card deleted for 2016.

You can wirelessly stream from your phone using Bt.

For my phone to wirelessly charge, I must push it towards the rear of the charging mat.

If you want to use AA, and have the google maps (with traffic) displayed on the truck screen, you must connect the usb.

Shows how much I used the SD slot in the 14 I never noticed it missing in the 2016.

The LED lights have like a 50,000 hour life span..

So even if you ran them 10 hours a day they should last 13 years.

I have never seen LED's that meet or exceed this longevity rating.

The will last for as long as I keep vehicles

Pirate - the LED technology in its current form (reliability) wasn't what was available on the market 13 years ago...though I recognize they are rated in operating-hours.

Bought a BRAND NEW LED light for the kitchen when they first came out. Put the date on it and stuck it in the socket! Told my wife, "look honey we will not have to change this until were retired" Three years later almost to the day.....It was dead!

I've had the same LED flashlight that I have used for about 10 years now on a daily basis and it is still going strong... what is your point?

The "DVR" functionality of the radio was done away with and the overall speed of the entertainment system was dramatically increased at the same time.

None of my USB ports have died... why do people feel the need to bitch and moan every chance they get even if it is not what the topic is about?

edit: And don't even get this guy started on the stock tires. he spun ALL 4 accelerating through a curve in light rain. SO DANGEROUS I CAN'T BELIEVE WE HAVEN'T ALL DIED!

50000 hours holy chit. Who is going to be the first to test the LEDS? lets do some math here Hmm 24 hours a day times 365 days a year = about 6 years so someone out there needs to keep there LED headlights continuously burning for about 6 years and lets test this theory out! Please report back in around August of 2022. I will be anxiously waiting on the results.

The good news is the LED headlights are not considered a maintenance item anymore, so it they go out under warranty they should be replaced like any other failed electrical item. The downside is that if one goes out at 36,001 miles, you get to pony up $800+ to replace one.

And then one will most likely be brighter than the other :)

I'm hoping by then there will be aftermarket replacements that are cheaper. I love the look and brightness of the LEDs but out of warranty headlights and tail lights are going to be pricey for sure. I have had some cheap LED bulbs dim/crap out, like 3.00 nightlights that stay on 24/7, but the high quality replacements I used in my boat 5 years ago are still going strong - time will tell I guess.
