Chevy Replacing Transmissions

Just received a letter from Chevy dated August 2016.

My VIN# is affected and they are replacing the transmission due to

parts exhibiting a crack condition.

Transmission clutch piston out of spec.

Took it to the dealer to indentify the exact replacement that is required.

Edit:

2016 1500 5.3 NHT LTZ

Vehicle would occasionally lurch shifting into first when coming to a stop.

Other random bad shifts.....

Lol that describes pretty much the entire line 6 and 8 speeds from the very first models in 14 to current day models.

My 16 doesnt have these symptoms but I am still interested in knowing more about this.

I didn't have these problems at first, but have been noticing issues more and more lately after 3k miles. Occasionally a banging when letting off and giving gas again, but much more annoying and happening more often is this stupid hard downshift into 2nd or 1st when slowing down/downshifting!

Does this letter only state that the v8 models are the only ones affected?

Is this in regular Mode.....I'm always driving in the Tow / Haul Mode.....I like the shift pattern there, but sometimes get a violent downshift in the lower gears and figure it's part of the programming

I've got a very similar issue. When I'm at a stop and release the brake to apply the throttle, it "slams" into gear. Happens off and on. Not a fan. Was just getting ready to call and set an apt at the dealer. I'll check the mail and see if I got anything.

My dealer told me only the V-8's, and primarily the 6.2's

But who know's at this point.

Onstar notified me as well. At the GM recall page it linked me to, it was dated June.

Dealer is still trying to find me a replacement transmission. Two different models exist.

Could you please provide some more information about this letter?? My 2016 8 speed 5.3l has done this lurch stop since new. Very irritating!!

Mine is a 4x4 CC built in Dec. 2015.

Mine only did it the first 2-3,000 miles, but it was in "learn mode". After that it's been shifting perfectly ever since and I have just under 27,000 miles on the truck now. Seems like the ones having a real transmission problem was the first year of the 8 speeds and I can only assume that's because it was rushed so the tuning wasn't perfect. Some or most of the rushing was probably from people wanting to order a new truck with the 8 speed and some waiting until the 8 speeds to even order.

I just checked the Chevrolet recall site, nothing comes back for my VIN#. I was kind of hoping my vehicle would be included since my 16 has all of the described symptoms.
