i just got a new 2016 silverado 1500 and it is my first new vehicle and first truck and i completely love this truck but i have been having issues with it not starting ever since i bought it and after the third day of owning it the truck would not start so i took it to where i got it and they said the battery was bad so they replaced it under warranty which is good. so then a week later it did the same thing again so i took it back and they said they could not find anything wrong with it so when i got in the vehicle to drive home it would not start. so at this point they got me into a loaner vehicle and it took them almost a week just for them to tel me that it was just a bad starter relay this is a very basic electrical diagnosis and doesn't require rocket science so i am just curious i live in north ridgeville where are some good service departments that are close to me any advise or help will be greatly appreciated thank you

Maybe you should add the state so everyone knows where you're at. Those of us on tapatalk don't see all the info without clicking on your profile

it took a week after they put a battery in for the problem to re-occur, so obviously the issue is intermittent. I love how people assume when they bring their vehicle in to service with a "Happens once a week issue" that we are going to be able to wave our magic wands and find the issue while you wait in 5 minutes.

maybe don't be so upset with your service dept, maybe it took them a week because it started every time. Difficult to diag unless the problem is present.

Not sure where you bought it, but there are a number of dealers around you. I bought mine at Sunnyside Chevy in Elyria. Their service department called me and asked if I'd like to schedule one of my free oil changes. I didn't even know I got 2 free oil changes (since I bought mine used), the salesman forgot to mention it! They did a good job, did it quickly, and even addressed an open recall that was done in 15 minutes. That's my only experience with them so far, but they seemed to do a good job.

Also keep in minf if it is a busy location you might not have been first in line. I know the closest dealer to me has a 1-2 week wait right now they are so busy. So if you just left it they might not have even looked at it for 4-5 days.

Most of these customers today think their car is the only one in the shop ?

The thought process on both sides is flawed. Yes it seems like a basic electrical diagnosis, if you can catch it while its happening. I'm an electrician and trouble shooting electrical equipment can be difficult, especially if it's an intermittent problem. I don't think there is such a thing as a good or bad service department. Barring a few extreme cases, the techs are just doing as best as they can and solving these problems isn't as easy as most people think.

On the other hand having the attitude that customers are too demanding and shouldn't expect you to have a magic wand is arrogant. We are bringing you our vehicles because you are supposed to be equipped to handle this. Chevrolet says right on their website " the latest and most advanced diagnostic equipment available". He didn't take it to a Midas he took it in to be serviced by "GM Certified technician". I've actually had to look up a problem with my truck on this forum and then relay that information to the service tech to get it fixed. That shouldn't happen. So lets not act like you guys in the service department are batting a 1.000.

Thank God for this forum.

My truck stickered for 47k. Yeah I expect you to fix it if I bring it in. A little more understanding on both sides would go a long way.

Yeah, a vacation sounds great lol. Frustrating week at work.

Posts like this bother me, I go in everyday and put my 110% into fixing these customers cars, as do 99% of the guys I work with. Hell, I own two 50k+ GM vehicles, I know how it feels to be in the customers shoes, I spend a lot for my vehicles and expect all good things, but reality has to set in.

Just trying to shed some light on the subject for the OP as to why maybe it took a week, and maybe vent a little to all these "my service dept sucks" threads I see everyday lol. Some of us really do care.

Chevy service department is a joke. I've taken my truck to three different services departments. One worse than the other. If I had time, I'd write a book on here detailing my experiences but I'd need a week. I am sure there are people here with good experiences, but three out of three service departments I've gone go were a complete joke and horrible customer service. That's enough for me determine the quality.

If you wrote a book I don't think anyone would read it, your spelling and grammar sucks. ?

Yeah well, if I wrote a book, I wouldn't be doing it on my cell phone.
