Before you start 70% normal driving 10% because i freel like it. 10% dont mean to. Plus I drive in M mode keeps v4 off in town. the point of this thread is mainly a off the wall question,

Anyway to start off i had a 11 ram 1500 5.7 2wd all stock if that thing spun it killed all power after custom tuned it was a deadly beast (rain mainly) spin at 4k without trying

I noticed on this 2016 of mine its spin happy go wot at 30mph on dry pavement and it spins pretty good and TC is on and does kick in but it doesn't really cut power back. Then when i need it to move like this morning i laid into the throttle and spun shortly after. Take off about more then half throttle.

Ok so if i ever got a custom tune would it make the truck more spin happy all I really would like for it to hook up

I am running good year sr-a tires with 75% left at least. and they had first rotation and at frist oil change, second will come next oil change. I am surprised the (tire man) on my ram had half life left and a couple of spins later (new truck had to get a feel for new power) i had wire showing.

A 6.2 8spd GM 1500 truck unloaded is dangerous on wet roads without the factory TC and Stability Control engaged especially on the factory GoodYear SRA tires. The slightest throttle pressure will spin the back tires. I was in a situation the other day (It was a dry road) on a back road where a tractor trailer was trying to back onto the road. After a few seconds it became obvious that he was going to hit me if I set there any longer. It was on a blind curve and as soon as I whipped into the other lane a car (of course) was coming straight at me from the blind curve I nailed it all the way through the detent. You good feel the traction control really working, wheel spin was minimal and the truck took off like a frigging rocket. Without the controls the truck would have basically sat still in one spot and smoked the tires off the rims LOL. I like the devices and think they work well, besides you can turn them off if you want to take your chances on your own out there. I believe the wheel base and center of gravity on theses trucks will prohibit you from doing much drifting, You may wish to buy yourself a little Mercedes C63 AMG if funds are available for wheel spinning fun.

My 2016 RCSB 5.3 is pretty tail happy in the slightest of damp conditions. Its disheartening when it'll spin second gear with very little throttle pressure in the rain. These goodyears sure are junk.

However..on dry pavement - this truck is impressively quick with no spinning at all.

Thanks for the reply guys the truck stays unloaded with safety features on. so what y'all are saying once i get better rubber on her my wheel spin should go down to a minimum? I just never had a truck that would spin as easy if i take off at 3/4 and above in m1 i am still spinning slightly. Also stupid question could it be the road as well? I know that it will have a factor in it

I don't care about wasting tires. So i try not to get into the throttle that hard. When i can avoid it

I have a DCSB 5.3 4x4 with Bridgestone A/T's and mine only spins when I am turning sometimes, but never going straight down the road (unless I want it too). I know I was riding with a buddy who has the same setup only a chevy and his spun really bad once in the rain but he didn't have TC engaged. I keep TC always on, unless I want to have fun in the snow or something. He didn't run TC because he says he gets better MPG without it. I think he learned his lesson after that day.

After I got new tires, my Diesel wasn't as spin happy, for about the first 2000-3000 miles, then the new rubber was broken in and it likes to spin happily again, even after a tire rotation.

My RCSB 4.3 will chirp the tires under dry conditions. But when the roads are wet, this little V6 surprises me lol

Have about 14K on the stock Goodyears and in damp conditions with the 6.2 if you nail it I'm positive the truck will end up wrapped up on a telephone pole or worse.

Ya i can imagine that 6.2 is a handful to drive in wet conditions if not careful. my little 5.3 in wet conditions will spin it to 50mph if allowed she has about 7k miles

Also how is the factory goodyears in the snow/cold weather (I live in central Texas), not sure what true winter conditions is but I imagine its not pleasant to drive in. all ours is white stuff that blankets the ground and is slightly hard (if memory is right). (About 3") based on last year

I am wondering would it be worse if i tuned the truck? Assuming i still have factory good years at that time?

Yes a tuned truck is a bit worse in the wet. The improvement in dry performance makes up for it by a landslide.

I just use auto4wd in the wet

Yes it will. I found it to work ok for me in my non-HD trucks (which don't have Auto)

In rainy conditions just turn on "AUTO" on the 4WD selector dial and that will take care of most of your wheel spin.

GM says you can use it in dry conditions too but I wouldn't recommend it (at least not for too long).
