The 2017 Revised DEF Tank...

They are amazing trucks, it will be a shame if they lose sales over a cosmetic flaw like that.

People who know little about vehicles notice that tank before anything else. You'd think they'd rethink it.

It's all I see. Took me a while to notice the new hood scoop.

Looks like an afterthought

I always did my own maintenance on my trucks, now my 2016 High Country included the first two years oil changes and it was hard for me to let my dealer do it. My 08 Duramax was only serviced by me for the 8 years I owned it.I will not miss the expensive oil changes and changing the fuel filter. On the 08 you had to remove the passenger side front wheel well liner to change the filter. It seems like when GMC puts a diesel in their trucks, they do some odd things. Removing a wheel well liner to service your fuel filter, and a big ugly DEF tank make it look like the Diesel engine was an afterthought.

I hear the 2017 fuel filter is now down by the tank and is a cartridge - anyone got pics or the supplement pages?

It's also shown in the underbody pics that were posted at the time of the Texas state fair introduction last fall.

In the shop, it should be easier to get at than reaching over the wheel and wheel house liner like on the LML, but getting under the truck on the side of the road has it's own disadvantages :driving:

The priming process is no longer a hand pump prime/bleed, which should be a bonus.

Kinda off topic, but does anyone know if that hood will fit on a 2015? Lights and grill look the same...

Yes but its $$$$ for the hood, and the duct pieces.

Its like a tumor, my as well just mount it to the rear axle...If I was to buy a duramax, i'd have a hard time not tuning the def out and removing that growth in fear of it getting ripped off..

The damage prediction has been posted continuously on the diesel forums since the 2011 model when def first went into use.

Actual reports of damage are very rare.

I bet I've read that statement a thousand times. Only ever read one posted actually puncturing one. Never ripping m one off. Much like the cp4, much more negative hype than actual failure. Difference I suppose is cp4 has more than 1 failure

Delete the Fuel Filter, problem solved.

Just add a FASS or AIRDOG lift pump and you don't need the fuel filter anymore. :)

Except you possibly lose the fuel heater and water protection...had a FASS, cost me $2400 in injector work from water contamination.

I would not delete a OE filter after that experience.
