. On another occasion, some guy driving a gross polluter was in front of me and the smell was making its way into the cab and I was recirculating the air.

I read on this forum that recirculating air takes in some outside air.

I have this problem sometimes on the highway at high speeds. Though it doesn't sound like it is a issue with the door. Sounds more like the mirror caps allow a little wind in there and it is an ANNOYING whistle kind of noise. Has anyone else noticed this problem? It is worse when driving into the wind...

After 20 years of Dodge/Cummins diesels; I think these trucks are incredibly quiet......................I often find myself well above the LEGAL speed limit because of that!!

I think many of y'all are just used to cars and not trucks.

The side mirrors do create some noise but I am noticing the same thing as you. If I'm on the highway driving into the wind, I looked up at my door, right above the top of window, and you can see it chattering. I'm guessing the wind is actually pulling the door away from the seal and that would explain the whistling noise.

There is no excuse for differing quality of fit and finish between new cars and trucks. Rattles, squeaks and leaks should not be accepted on vehicles fresh from the assembly line just because it is a truck. I do agree that we often see truck and car differences being blurred with respect to ride and performance. If a new vehicle (whether it is a car or truck) is whistling on the highway or has leaks allowing wind or water into the interior, then have it repaired. These trucks are designed to be incredibly quiet. There is no reason to ride around in a noisy one, imo.

This may sound stupid but it worked for my, my sunroof had bad windnoise when I got the truck, a buddy said get a rag soak it with silicone spray and rub it into the weatherstripping. Amazingly it actually solved the problem

Owners have always been supposed to wipe down and then lube rubber seals on cars. Of course, hardly anyone actually DOES, lol.

Silicone spray works. Sil Glyde, which you can buy from many parts stores, works as well. It's thicker so it stays on the seal longer.

If you really want the most high-end stuff you can get, buy some Dupont Krytox to lube your seals. GPL-205 is what I'd recommend for a sunroof seal. Be sitting down when you check the price.

I was getting wind noise from my driver side door. It was most apparent when driving into a stiff cross-wind. At the time the truck was under warranty. They adjusted the door and the noise went away. Here is what it sounded like before it was fixed:

Thanks. I actually found a video of the exact noise I am talking about. Granted it is on an F150 (lol). But my truck does the same exact thing.

It is so GD annoying when driving. I have taken it to the dealership and they are like "Can't duplicate" blah blah.

That's worse than mine! Record it and show it to them. I wonder how they adjusted gone_fishing's door unless they just yanked it from the top to pull it towards the cab more.

I have a Chevy Impala Limited 2016. I purchased it in April 2017 used from a dealership with an extended warranty. It used to be a rental. Why that model of car? My 2013 Hyundai Sonata 4cyl 2.4L was totaled and I had a Chevy Impala Limited 2016 for a rental. It was quiet and 300+ HP V6 was fun. No wind noise, no rattles. It was quiet and solid. So I bought one.

I noticed the wind noise on the way home. Instantly, I regretted not paying the $150 to be able to return in car in 48 hours.

This was a CPO car. Everything should be good.

Anyway, I have my car in a second time for wind noise and they are looking at it. As a loaner, they put me in a giant, 4 door, 2017 Silverado. I like being in the truck but on the way home, WIND NOISE. Is this a random problem, a Chevy problem, or just dumb bad luck?

I traded in my 2013 Silverado for my 14 because I hated the leather seats without heat in the 13, but I also noticed the "quite" cab in my 14. I also drive part time for a dealer and have yet to find a new body style truck with wind noise.

I would say possibly been abused since its a loaner, or maybe a wrecked one.

I love my quite cab and sometimes it is so quite I have to step on the gas to hear the pipes bark.

Thought I was loosing my mind. My driver door has wind nose seems to be from the middle top of the door especially in cross winds. I'm going to have to try all these fixes.

I am having this issue in our 2017 Sierra SLT. Extreme wind noise from the front driver side mirror area. I can put duct tape around where its mounted and completely tape up the seam where the mirror plate is bolted to the door, and I hear no wind noise. Take the tape off, and it is so loud, it sounds like a window is cracked. Guess what GM says about it: "Its normal", "It is evidently a characteristic of that vehicle". The sticker price on this truck was almost $56,000 and the wind noise to me is unbearable yet we are told it is normal. So GM has basically said "We have your money, we are not going to fix the issue, we don't really see it as an issue, so you are on your own".

We have been in several other Sierras, they do not sound like this, I made 1 dealership put me in one of their new 17's and drove it, it didn't sound like ours, and we have asked multiple people with this same truck, and theirs don't sound like ours, but somehow; ours is normal???

1 dealer said they replaced the weather strip on the inside around the door, this made no difference.

Another dealer said they removed the mirrors and replaced the gaskets behind the mirror, this made no difference.

The driver's door on my 2017 starting making an annoying whistle noise last fall.  I thought it was the mirror seal based on others' experience, but of course the dealer could not find the leak.  I finally went for a drive with a roll of 2" painter's tape, kept taping different parts of the door seams, mirror seams and window seams, and found it.

On mine, it is the window seal, right in the top rear corner of the window.  If i put a piece of tape over it on the outside it stops.  Going back to my dealer this week to tell them to replace it after i did their job for them.
