2016 2500HD Denali roof leak

So disappointed to spend so much money on a brand new truck only to have a water leak in my cab (assuming from satellite fin). 2000 miles and already leaking into the cab. Just unreal.

No need to be upset. It is very common and easy to fix. Don't drown yourself in tears over a little water water raining down on you.

OJ _ I am glad you feel that way. I assume that you are more than well off and place less value to your money as a hard working middle class earner as myself does. For those who value their hard earned money, while taking pride in their work, we expect a fair exchange for such. So pardon me if I am pissed off that they have to rip apart the headliner, have possible corrosion to internal mechanical/audio components....on MY brand new truck. Might I add that if you have ever taken anything brand new apart, you would know that it never goes back the same. Principal is that you get what you pay for. I paid for the top of the line luxury 4 wheel drive, and I expect it not to leak within the first 2 months. I had a brand new crew cab Titan LE-4X4....not a problem @ 118,000 miles. Dry my tears over a little water? Eat a dick!

If you haven't already taken it in to dealer, maybe get some clear silicone and very very carefully go around the fin yourself. That's saves your headliner removal and headache. Now if its already ruined your headliner I understand take it in make them fix it. Yea it bites, I feel your pain on a new truck. Hang in there. Another note sometimes the Cyclopes rear red light can leak to. Had that happen on another truck.

I understand how upset the OP is, to tell you the truth I would probably get rid of a vehicle that leaked like that on me. To clarify: 10 or 15 years ago I would not be able to afford to do that, but now that I can afford it that leaky piece of crap would be gone immediately LOL.

I was mad like you at first with my leak..but after calming down and allowing the dealer to fix it and assure me there is no damage i was ok, anything made by humans will have issues whether you spend 90,000 dollars on it or 40 bucks. No reason to start attacking people on here

Well. mine has started leaking too. Right out of the driver side visor mount. Wiggled the sharkfin and tons of water came flowing out from inside of the sharkfin down the roof of the truck. Mine's going in for warranty service this week for sure.

Note the gap in the gasket on the back side of the sharkfin and the water on the headliner at the visor base.

8 months old. Frustrating.

So would it be worthwhile to seal up that gap in the seal? Preventative maintenance?

In the 6 trucks I have had since 2003 only the 2014 ever leaked. That is when I noticed the gap at the back as I was checking antenna for cracks or something. I looked at new trucks on the lot and they all had it. I am not sure why the gap is there in the rubber but I had to pay to have a new antenna installed ( off warranty) I believe it was about $400 or so. If I ever have another one leak off warranty I will spend $7.00 on a tube of silicone and run a bead around it instead. Maybe one of the GM mechanics that are on here could enlighten us as to why the gap is there? Maybe it is for thermal expansion or something.

It makes no sense to have that gap there. It's a perfect spot for water intrusion. They need to just use a one piece continuous gasket. A split gasket like this is completely unnecessary in an application like this.

It sure seems it would be.

But now that there is water in my headliner, it's going in to service dept for warranty work.
