Cant Do BurnOut In New Truck

Jeez some people seem to think their vehicles really are appreciating assets. The dang things are going to depreciate and are going to cost you big bucks regardless why not have some fun?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPSXTcMtO0k

And when (fill in the blank) dies & the dealer says no coverage, watch for the complaining.

Saw this on a non-automotive site recently where a bunch of us were just chatting:

Typical day, last job.of day is a tow in challenger hell cat. Customer screaming.and losing his crap due to a massive coolant leak and only 425km on car.

Turns out after filling it with coolant pressure testing it. No leaks so now customer yapping at me its the fans. Its not.

Run engine with block tester on it what u know has combustion leak into cooling system

Head gasket most likely

Hey what u know this vehicle has a cold air intake on it so lets dig a little deeper

Vehicle scan report and configuration overview not original ecu

Ecu belongs to a hellcat sitting on a dealer lot in st catherines. Been overwritten wasnt hard to figure the guys has a performanr tune on oem ecu and overboosted the engine swapped out ecu for stock tune.one and brings it in for warranty .

Cant wait till tomorrow to inform customer no coverage

The aftermath:

Part of the giveaway is the report is wiped clean and most of the obd monitors are not ready

And this:

Update- customer showed up with some demands, to replace fan module, fan and t-stat as thats a issue apprantly on the hell cat forum, and not the heads.

I gave my manager the printouts showing not original ecu and pics of cold air intake.

customer was informed that if we submit this to fca his car will be put on restricted list his response " i had no idea the ecu was changed" guess i ll tow it out of here.

Thats called busted, i know a 6.2l hemi can handle 1000hp no issues so what boost was this guy running

he ll be towing it to the dealer that upgraded the car, let them deal with it

I guess I have a different train of thought with my possessions that cost large sums of money. My large purchases I would like to last a long time even after they are paid off. Yes everything depreciates in value but once a vehicle for example is paid off, and still in good shape..then its just money saved and earned. Why beat on a 60k+ vehicle..you save yourself a lot of money and avoid the vicious circle of trade in,payments..over and over.

I see it the same way.

It was just the comment you've made, what cracked me up.

I think it's funny.

I drove beaters for many many years until I achieved financial independence. Nowadays if I want a new truck I just pay cash for it (Is 60k really a large sum of money?) I do whatever I please with it. If you are struggling financially the very last thing you should ever buy is a new car or truck much less be modifying or abuse it. All about perspective I guess. Investments should not depreciate if you buy a new vehicle as an "investment" you have a very bad financial adviser that should be fired immediately LOL

OP could you send me seeds from your money tree? How long before it bears fruit?

Ok...so I took my truck to the tire shop to get the tires rotated and balanced. I had a bit of feathering on the front tires. Those were rotated to the rear. On checkout, the tire guy suggested I do a couple burnouts to knock down the feathering. Soooo...I turned off traction control and stabilitrack, held the brake, hit the gas, waited two seconds and let it fly. A couple of nice patches ended up on the asphalt. Given this thread, I wasn't expecting much but it spun up pretty fast and easy. I still have a little feathering, so I'll lay a few more short patches.

heck it's only been rained on twice when I was at the lake and didn't have a garage to put it in.

I'm afraid you have confused well maintained with some type of control/OCD issue. lol

I wouldn't make a habit of doing burnouts in a truck with a G80 locker, unless you want to go pickup the diff parts off the parking lot....

Not every day certainly but for once in a while

60k is a large amount of money to invest in a vehicle, yes it is an investment..anything you purchased you invested money into to possess it. I can easily afford what I drive, but I also see the light at the end of the tunnel..by the time its paid off it'll be right around 10k miles on it, and with little abuse I should be able to get decades of worry free use out of it. Thus long run, no payment or the expense of replacing it, I don't know what your financial situation is or what not, great you can pay cash for everything. Bottom line is in this day and age living like the money will never run out and everything is a throw away is a sure fire way to end up broke, old and working at mcdonalds til the reaper calls.

If I was to buy a used truck, I'd rather buy a modded one than one used for pulling. Most of the major suppliers like banks have fail safes on them that monitor the engine. And it's a given the the transmission is usually the week link. Keep the big tires to a minimum and learn how to use the right foot and even the transmission can easily last 100K.

By definition a vehicle that constantly depreciates cannot be an investment, it's a constantly depreciating asset... You can invest money into it but, there will be no financial return... Exceptions are classic or collector cars that gain value over time...
