Paint protection film (xpel / suntek) worth the cost?

Ive had last 2 trucks done  with a PPF  my black 2017 was 1 week old when done with Xpel Ultimate.  No regrets my 2010 front end looked brand new when sold  

 

best advice I can give make sure you get a self healing product so any scratches or marks will “ heal” after a day or so in hot sun  lower cost versions will scratch even when rubbed with a soft cloth. Maybe not a big deal on a white truck but black you want the self healing product

I think ceramic pro is self healing, but also depends on how many layers.

Here is the progress so far. They are taking it apart as they go, the bed is coming off for the area in between.

The $5800 posted above now makes sense. I originally thought you went with xpel or something similar.

Responses seem overwhelmingly supportive so I'm gonna do it. Going to go with the shop that does Suntek Ultra which is self healing and has a 10 yr warranty. They have been the most responsive on information and they are closest to me. They even offered to drop me off and pick me up from work before and after. They want the truck for 2 days so they can do the prep, install, and let it cure overnight in the shop since it's so cold up here, they said it's better for it to setup warm than outside in freezing temps. I'll get some pics posted after it's done!

If your mirrors  are  body color do those too  I had the the lower doors/ rockers done too

What is the advantage to this coating? For $5,800 you can let the paint go to hell in a hand-basket and have it professionally repainted when you sell it off. Not like modern GM paint is a quality job anyway, it starts to peel if you drive too fast.

Look for a film with a good warranty. X-pel ultimate is also self healing and comes with a 10 year warranty.

After 10k miles the my front bumper looked horrible. Paint chips on a summit white bumper looked like it was covered in black bugs. Dealer ended up repainting the front bumper under warranty. As soon as I got it back I had xpel ultimate installed. Should have got it done when I bought the truck. 10k miles later and numerous trips to the deer lease the front still looks new.

I personally have Xpel on my entire front hood, front headlight trim, grille, and both front fenders.

 

I will be adding to bumper once I get painted.

I'm getting the 22'' OEM ones but powder black with the insert cardinal red. I'm have the red line decal on my truck so I'm put a bit of red. I hate not having my truck, think I can get a discount since they forgot the ceramic coating and made me wait longer? Also, they are still waiting on my rear window tint...

I had it done to my 2009 and at that time it cost $3000 with UV protectent. No stains at all. Have had that purple clay mud dried all over the truck and it just washed right off with water. Have had oil splashed on the truck and with just some soap and water and just came off. The color never faded after seven years even in the West Texas / New Mexico sun and heat. I like how it holds up, but some people don't like the rough feeling.
