Glad to hear GM came through. Amazing this is not a safety recall for everyone

I also had my rear window assembly replaced last week under the service bulletin. (parts were on back order for several weeks).

GM eventually came through for me as well, but man!, did they make it hard.

Hi eveeveryone, it happened with my chevrolet silverado trail boss 2019. So long story to short

i live in SC at this morning about 50 degree. Normally i drive my ford suv and the truck i just parked at the driveway but thay dat i have to pick up some lumber and i saw my truck from my room and i did get remote start to make the engine getting warm because i saw front windshield and back very foggy. And after 5 minutes i getting to my car and put defogger for both after i drive out of my driveway I hear loud  sound like the gun shot. I thought that is bullet travel but aftet look all my car i did see any body damdamage but the back window broken. Still don’t know what is reason but my truck still have warranty hope they find a reason to have a recall for safety for you and everyone
i did drive to dealer and told them what is happening and show one people had the same situation like that.
just let everyone know just be careful maybe they will have a recall in the future

Sorry to hear about your problems with rear window.  I thought the 2019’s and newer models weren’t affected by this problem?  I had the recall done last November on my 2018 Sierra Denali Ultimate 1500.  They inspected the contacts on the heater element underneath the black plastic cover under the rear slider and there were no signs of corrosion or melted wires .  No further action was taken.

Hope they sort it out for ya....

Hello Everyone. I also have a 2017 Denali 2500 HD. I had the truck fixed under the recall for the rear defrost problem back in the summer. This past Friday morning my slider caught fire. I had 4” flames going up the plastic. Luckily I had water and was able to put the flames out after I had shut the truck off. I then pulled the fuse for the defrost and drove straight to the dealer. I have started a file with GM customer care and am waiting to see what happens. Has anyone had a fire after the defect was corrected?

The same exact thing just happened to my 2015 GMC Sierra SLT crew cab rear sliding window today in Rhode Island.

I heard the hissing sound and then bang, the rear drivers side window panel shattered.
My dealer is saying they have never seen it before and they don’t replace glass. I have glass coverage on my insurance policy but that doesn’t help me on whatever electrical problem I have.

I’m looking for help, where should I start??

I have a 2015 Sierra that was at the dealer for the recall in 2019 where they supposedly fixed the issue.. well I started the truck today, herd sizzling , then the drivers side window exploded.. Guess the GM "fix" didn't work. Ill be at the Dealer in the morning.. Can't wait to see how this turns out

Guys. This is an absolute CRAP design. Pull fuse #10 and call it a day. I pulled mine when I got the truck at the first hearing of this and it’s been fine. And the heated mirrors still work fine. I have never had a rear window defogger on any of my trucks, got a kick out of this one having it, but the variations of this problem I’ve seen in this thread are nothing I want anything to do with. That includes the ones what have been “fixed “by GM.

Just like Mr. Miyagi always said: “best way avoid punch, no be there.” You can live your whole life to those words. Hahha. Pull the fuse.

Ok, so this might describe your feeling too, “It’s OK to lose to opponent, must not lose to fear.”

So, by pulling the fuse (the opponent), you will not lose to the fear of your window exploding??

I have 40 more if anyone wants to keep playing......

Hahha I submit to you that pulling the fuse is defeating the opponent, since I took away its purpose, and thusly removing the fear. [emoji1377]

I love hearing how the dealer won't cover these component faults. Like buying a truck from them with glass windows was a crazy modification or something.

When it comes to glass, that is what insurance is for.
Failures can com from many causes: a load in the truck contacting the glass but not quit breaking it, road hazards on the windshield and all side windows (rocks kicked up from the road can bounce off an object and find their way to your side window - happened to a guy at work two months ago) etc...

Oh I'm fully aware of those events, which is why I said component faults and not the trials and tribulations of being an unsecured load enthusiast or off road pirate.
