I have a 14 Silverado ltz z71. I added front and side cameras. One of the issues IS the resolution of the screen. But, I overlook that at night. One thing I did was to add BRIGHT led reverse lights from Diode Dynamics. Not cheapo led's. I also have the Putco LED tailgate light bar which does running,  brake, turn, and reverse lights. That makes a huge difference with the camera. I need the cameras because of dark window tint. I agree with the people who complain about NOT having a quality in our trucks, especially our high trim/price models. But I also agree with others that its there, it may not be great, but its better than having nothing.  Some say that they dont trust their cameras and they just use mirrors. I dont get that one. Can you see the trailer hitch using your mirrors?? No, you cant.  There will always be some people who say that something is terrible and then on the same item, others say its great. I bet if you took those two and put them right next to each other, i bet they would most likely be the same. Thats just the way it is... WE JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.... Would you go buy a different brand truck ONLY because the backup camera is better? If so, ill see ya on the ford truck forums too. I dont let this stuff bother me. Complain sometimes, yes, make me get rid of my awesome trucks, NO.

You will definitely have to overlook the lack of contrast control at night because there is no alternative, there is no adjustment in settings. My main complaint is that you cannot control the contrast, and try to navigate using the back up camera  day or night when its raining.  Impossible to safely rely on the camera.

If Toyota can manage to install a much superior camera system than GM something is wrong in Detroit!!

62k for a GMC 2500 2018 Duramax and the camera has a picture like it came from the clearance rack at Walmart.  Does anyone make a good replacement camera?

I never noticed how bad the image quality was in my 16 Silverado until I rented a 19 Nissan Vogue. Now I keep going back and wiping off the lens thinking it's coated with crud but it doesn't help. C'mon GM, you can't do any better than this?? And what's up with the outside temp readout? Almost never right.

the camera has been better than any of our other cars, so it feels like a step up. now our infiniti QX60...what an absolute POS. I remember we used to think it was so great until we got the sierra.

we never had back up cameras for 100 years, now everybody cant park without one.. lol  I fixed mine.. I took out the headrests from the back seats and leave my tail gate down , I now have to twist my body around and look behind me when backing up.. Like the old fukin days lol : )

Yep, my 2018 Sierra 3500HD backup camera is awful/ dangerous at night, and just acceptable during the day. Camera flares-out with any overhead lighting and my own license-plate light at night, making it virtually unusable. Literally can't see my trailer's hitch in my driveway (fortunately bumper sensors tell me). Screen is WAY TOO BRIGHT when shifting into reverse at night (NAV screen dims just fine with dash gauges, but NOT when it switches to camera display while in reverse); blinding. I rented a POS Hyundai Elantra last week for work, and the camera was SPECTACULAR at night, highlighting how awful GM's system is in my $80K truck. An information display should not display bad information; relying on this camera is a recipe for impaling otherwise obvious stuff while in reverse at night.

Where's my trailer's tongue / giant-red-lock??!  I can (and do) clean the camera every single trip, but it makes no difference. This system has no decent contrast and has terrible lighting dynamic range, like late '90s camera quality. GM continues to choose price over quality, exampled by what they've done to Cadillac... I think this is my last GM product.
