Centex14 Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 I wish everything was as easy to replace as rear shocks. With that said, the rancho’s at a 116k miles were still very good. I was surprised. They reacted similar to the bilstein’s I just put on. 2014 z71 LTZVolant IntakeBorla ExhaustDiablo
rkj__ Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 I'm going to remove the air dam first chance I get! That thing is a monster.
Centex14 Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 Spark plugs at a 116k miles. By the way, the Taylor 79203 plug wires fit just fine despite summit saying they don’t. Removing the inner fender gives SO much room in here. Spark plugs were a breeze on the passenger side. I don’t know how anybody gets #8 without doing this.2014 z71 LTZVolant IntakeBorla ExhaustDiablo
WS6FirebirdTA00 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Wow, tons of space! Wish I could do that on the Trans Am for #8.

Literally felt like pushing on a pogo stick. Spring only, no oil or gas left.
Centex14 Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 All done. Started at 9am and just finished. Took a few water breaks. Driver side fought me like crazy. Nothing wanted to fit at all. Also discovered my jack is to short so I’ve gotta go buy a bigger one for the truck. Top of tire to fender is between 8 1/8”-8 1/2”. I’m sure it’ll settle as I drive it. For the record I used the rough country kit to level the truck and left the bilstein’s on the stock setting. Now time for some n-fab step bars and bigger tires and better wheels. 2014 z71 LTZVolant IntakeBorla ExhaustDiablo
Goinovr Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 For the first time in quite a few years (decades?) the only project I'm doing is an 11lb smoked porkbelly. No vehicles, no fences, no concrete, no house crap.
Centex14 Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 I’m smoking a chicken tomorrow or Sunday. Tomorrow we are going to the water park with some friends. Was going to spread these out over the long weekend but the wife decided to book us on other things so I had to get them done today. Oh well. At least it’s three days of beer and relaxing. 2014 z71 LTZVolant IntakeBorla ExhaustDiablo
WS6FirebirdTA00 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Well, today I got to run around and find parts for the Airaid kit since they don’t like to ship the right parts ??

Bilstein 5100's Rough Country 2" lift New spark plugs (116k on the originals) Taylor plug wires (why the heck not) Garage door opener for the truck's garage (tired of jamming a screw driver in the track to hold the door open) Going to be a long weekend. I would hold onto your stock plug wires in your garage just in case. I had a set of Taylor’s on my 14 Silverado for about 5-6k Miles, and when I did my header install while removing the wire from the plug the “cap” stayed on the plug and wire came off. That happened to 3 of the 8 plug wires. Stupid me tossed the stock wires when I did the Taylors, and not a single auto parts store in my town had any plug wires for it. Maybe it was a bad set of wires from Taylor, but ticked me off for sure! Ive taken plenty of wires off and had never had that happen before. Just a heads up
Centex14 Posted August 31, 2018 Author Posted August 31, 2018 Glad to know. I’ll pull mine out of the trash.2014 z71 LTZVolant IntakeBorla ExhaustDiabloBilstein 5100Rough Country Level

Centex14 Posted September 2, 2018 Author Posted September 2, 2018 Went and measured and from top of tire to bottom of fender I’m now between 8 1/8”-7 3/4” so it’s settled a good half inch or so. 2014 z71 LTZVolant IntakeBorla ExhaustDiabloBilstein 5100Rough Country Level
