Sorry you are dealing with that. Sounds exactly like my 12/2018 build date. I think the switch in 10/2018 is a load of junk, there are more later builds coming out of the woodwork that have leaks. Mines at the shop right now with the headliner ripped off and the sealant fix going on. Has been three weeks now without my brand new truck waiting on parts. Hope it gets resolved quickly .

So I've read this forum before and just sat back and felt bad for all you guys. I of course went right out and took a hose to my windows for a solid 30 minutes. Never a drop. However for some reason I never looked up at the liner. Only the window for water spots.

Welp, washing it today and testing it again. This time I looked up. To the dealer I go.

Something else to add - I think my repair has actually been done. No water came in today either. This is a dry stain. I think they fixed it and that's why it sat from 3/19 until I bought it in September.

So further inspection on the back channel where they put the sealant - it doesn't look like it's been applied to mine. No mess or overspread. I don't know what to think. I've held a hose on this thing for nearly an hour and can't get it to leak.

 

Do you think the dealer will tell me if they repaired it before it was sold?

Same story here. 7000 miles and a Feb 2019 build. Just started leaking on the top of the rear driver's side seat. My headliner hasn't been wet, though. 

 

Classic Chevrolet is my closest dealer, and I'm sure they have dealt with a few of these since they're the highest volume Chevy dealer in the US.

Sucks man. I’m so sorry. I’ve spent 3 hours now with a hose on mine. I’m convinced the dealer fixed it pre-sale and then didn’t replace the headliner hoping they could get away with it (which they did.) I didn’t catch it that night when I bought the truck.

That’s pretty wild. I would raise that with them and get you a new head liner. If it’s not leaking, they pulled a fast one here.

That stain looks like it should clean up if the dealer has a competent detailer on staff. Mine looked about as bad but was cleaned up fine (after the second attempt). I was cautious to push for a new headliner because that means the windshield has to come out. And you can guess all of the things they can screw up in that process....

To me, it seems really unlikely that someone at the dealer would have noticed the leak and then taken the initiative to fix it. And then not clean the headliner. Really, even if an employee happened to move the thing around the lot on a rainy day, who’s going to look in the back seat at all, let alone look up at the headliner and investigate. Not to mention, when it’s wet, you almost have to shine a light on it to see the water spot. It’s so dark back there with the tinted windows and dark interior colors. Just my take...

Well that makes me feel better. I would hope they wouldn't do something that shady. But who knows.

Given the opportunity I’m sure they would pull some pretty shady stuff, but frankly I just don’t give them enough credit to even find the problem. Plenty of people have “the leak” for who knows how long before finally spotting it. If it’s slow, and doesn’t drip onto the seat where someone would see it easier, it would be really really hard to spot until the water stain on the headliner dries. Likelihood of an employee at the dealer noticing this in passing...just not very high at all.
 

In my case it was true about the conditions that might trigger a leak. I had mine through high pressure washes at least 2x weekly, some hand washes and everything else, no trouble. The leak only surfaced after a steady, soaking rain overnight.

 

I mean, either way you have to take the thing in for the headliner, may as well have them inspect the window channel for the cracks. Maybe the window is fine and it’s just the 3rd brake light seal which would probably be the best possible outcome.

Guess I’ll have a good opportunity to see if my leak from the other morning was a fluke, or if my truck has finally succumbed to its T1 fate...

Has anyone had the leak not be the rear window? My dealer said they have seen 3rd breaklight/spoiler leak. Also called another dealer and they said something about a body seam that didn’t get epoxy from the factory?

Mine was the 3rd brake light/spoiler housing. They resealed it and it is going on 6 months and so far, knock on wood, no more leaks.

It’s been raining off and on for nearly the past 48 hours. My RST has been parked inclined on my driveway, with the bed lower than the hood. 

Here’s where my water leak is coming from: 

 

Very minimal trickle. I left a paper towel at the top of the seat to absorb any water over night and it was damp this AM. So I’m glad it’s not a terrible leak. 
 

Going to try and get the truck in for a fix this week, but not sure if I’ll have time.
