2010 Silverado Tire and rim sizes.

Alright so I am looking to buy a 2010 silverado, ive got a few picked out and i have already talked to the dealers about them. I am not a big fan of the stock rims and tires and wanted to  get aftermarket rims. i see that the stock rim sizes are 17-18" diameter, 7.5-8" width.  I want to get a bit bigger rim preferebly width wise as I am not a fan of having 18 inch or bigger rims as i dont see much point in them.  I am keeping the stock ride hight as i dont do nearly as much off roading, and i have a 86 k10 that i can use for serious off roading sessions. All input is accepted but again 17 inch rims is where i prefer to be. im just not sure how wide i can go before rubbing becomes a problem.
