yes just back from a dealer last night....they play so many games

they jacked up price of the MSRP (never seen that done b4) than gave rebates and included 2k of accessories ( which is common but I don't want of course).....now if they knock the MSRP back down to what it really is and take accessories off it would be 42k OTD for a 49.9k MSRP on an  LT 2500 4x4.....I know 1500 have huge discounts but haven't seen many on 2500.....

I may just wait and scrap the whole deal and refi my 1500

but yeah its always a dog and pony show

Hi guys I wanted to say thanks for all the great info. I used it to buy a loaded 2020 Silverado Trail Boss LT 5.3 msrp'd at $57,515 and got over 11k off and 27k for my 2014 FJ on trade. Walked out paying the FJ and $21700, that's after taxes and fees. They got me into a 3.49 loan for 84 months. Didn't matter on the 0% since I had such a huge down payment so I took the cash. I'm pretty happy, I loved the FJ but for that price I'm happy to trade for a new vehicle.  It sucks in Illinois because they passed a new law where you don't get full tax value for your trade anymore only the first 10k. That costs me about $1500 since the state double taxes you.

is it in the opinion of the forum that finding out the invoice, and working the rebates/discounts from that? and what about another discount, say the supplier discount-which I genuinely have? Just wondering how, when some of you say "I got them down to __".. how did you approach that? if I took the invoice on the truck I want, find the invoice, discount the 6500, and supplier, that's a good deal from $52,600 to right at $40,000, but i'm left wanting more since I've seen some trucks online with higher MSRPs that are cheaper than $39k.

I really think it all depends on where you live and demand. If the dealer knows they can profit a little more and there’s a demand for the specific truck, they won’t really budge a lot. I was set on a Trail Boss. They didn’t want to move on the price as much but tried to get me in a standard LT and were willing to cut a larger discount. Have family that works in sales management for the auto industry just not Chevy and they said that usually it all depends on demand for the car and how the sales are performing. If they are willing to loose some profits for just a unit sale they’ll let it go cheap but if they feel they can get someone else to buy it for a higher price tag, they won’t give in. That’s why I felt good with the price they gave me on the Trail Boss plus I called for a second opinion from my family. Noticed when I started to research them in my area that inventory on these didn’t even last a week in February.

I had no invoice that i had seen.

From reading this website, there were quite a few instances of 25% off on MSRP. That was my go to number. I didnt give two ****** how they got there or what they had to do. Manufacturer rebates wont change. Dealer rebates will. My first responder discount was $925; my dealer fee was $75 where as it is normally $999... or maybe 975 i cant remember. But either way, the next closest dealership was a $500 discount. So i was up $425 in that alone. The dealer i bought it from text me out of the blue and straight up said they need the truck gone by this weekend. Went back and forth and i had a family friend call a friend who is the sales manager and knocked the price down to the 25% off point, at which point i took the deal. Hard to think that i paid almost $3000 less for a 4x4 sierra with a sticker of 58,500 than a 2x4 LTZ silverado with a sticker of 55.

Stick to your guns. Unless you need a truck tomorrow.... slow and steady wins the race.

exactly the way I felt....I don't care where they pull it from...and they can pull it from somewhere if needed

also depends how long truck has been sitting....you cannot depend on the dealer or salesman to have your best interest at heart (I am sure some have long relations or connections that prove exceptions but not the norm)….they are trying to get the most and your job is to pay least....may best man win, lol

heard along time ago from someone in industry is you should shoot for 20% minimum.....unless its a raptor or specialty and ive stuck to that rule.....Toyota forget it

but have managed to attain it so it just takes a bit of skill, research, patience....sometimes it just falls into your lap

certain cars, trucks or models are tougher than others but still....at some point they will let them go and wont let you know it unless you stick it out.....why would they let a vehicle go for few thou less if they don't have too....what bugs me is super politically correct and polite emails they send while trying to bend you over and plug you, lol

I really hate to say it and am sure there are good ones but most are so friggen shady...at least most of ones I have come across in last 30yrs

Just bought a 2020 Silverado 1500 RST Z71 4WD Crew cab Texas edition. MSRP was $52,600. Paid $41,000 and got them to put on running boards.

Just literally closed on a 6.2 TB, MSRP 58205.00; bought for $42466 (46000 before GM Card rebates) I'm happy so far.

were you out the door at 42,466 or that plus tax, tag, and title.

That is a steal. Mine was 52k sticker for a 5.3 and got it down to 42k and change. I would’ve definitely gone the 6.3 route for that price and I’m sure you got a lot more upgrades than I did. But at the time it was a gamble to see where this would go and I’m still happy with the truck either way. Coming from a V6 so any V8 will do

I had an email conversation with a dealer yesterday as I was looking for a 6.2L TB. Pretty shocked at their unwillingness to negotiate.  I guess $57k+ MSRP trucks are flying off the lot during this global pandemic/economic crisis?

I just had my 2017 GMC Sierra SLT Dbl Cab totaled from a tornado. Not really in a rush to buy since I'm stuck inside with social distancing, so wondering if Im better off waiting for the next round of incentives.

That was before TT&L. Most states vary, so I just listed MSRP and sales prices. OTD was ~4550 (Tax is 6.25% here , title & lic was ~200, Doc fee was 150) No trade

I dealt with 3 dealers direct, and it seemed like only one was willing to deal. I did deal with another through TruCar, but when the sales guy quoted me a price higher than their advertised price, I did not respond.

If you're in Texas, I can pass on the information of the salesman I used.
