Has anyone else noticed how your exterior mirror lights have 3 different settings?

1. push the button once and both lights are on

2. push the button twice and driver side only light is on

3. push the button a third time and the passenger side light is on

my frustration is I have no clue which setting it is on unless I get out of the truck to look myself... am I missing something? It would be nice to have a notification somewhere showing what setting it is on or even when they are on.

Trials and Tribulations my friend.

Probably something the engineers did not realize or take into consideration during product/feature development.

I have always said, let the consumer test these unit tool vehicles out before going into production to remedy such issues.

This is all I could find on the mirror task lighting operation:

Seems like if you cant see which light is on by looking out the window, then why do you need the light. I can see mine perfectly when it is dark enough to use them? :loser:

Yes, it definitely helps to do the testing when it is dark.

Are these lights similar to the spot lights in the tow mirrors of my F250 and Silverado 2500HD? I have a button to turn each side on/off. They are on camper mirrors, so there may be some difference. They help light an area to the sideand rear of the truck.

no these are completely useless small lights on the front of the mirror that aren't bright enough to be noticed over the headlights. They are just a couple LEDs where a marker light should be, except these are white and turn off when you put the truck in gear

I’ve already used mine with the mirrors folded in. Went through a drive through and the menu sign lights were off. Turn the left side lights on and ordered dinner. Not likely the intended use but what the heck, it worked. :)

I believe these are meant to be used when the headlights are off anyway.  I've used mine while tailgating (combined with the rear lights) and when everything is lit up they are quite nice if your looking for something or just need some light while picking up before you leave.

I wouldn't call them "useless" , as I can see them being very handy when we go camping and we need some light on either or both sides of the truck at the campsite.

I really like those mirror lights, you can grab the mirror and direct the light where you need it, but yes, it only works when in park.

It would be nice if you could select it as part of your automatic park lighting, but I tried and cant seem to find a way.

If you want them to come on after parking, you have to manually turn them on.

Anyone else find a way to have them automatically come on when you park?

Has anyone figured out how to keep those lights on while driving? Every time you put the truck in drive they turn off. I want to try to keep them on.

I found a company that makes a bypass that only makes the Task Lights work while driving when you turn your brights on.

I plan on making it so the fog lights and the mirror lights turn on with the brights. Just have not had time to look at what connections will need a 1-way resistor

Boost automotive has a product that does have the mirror lights on with high beam but does not have a way to shut off and on.  also some do not like the T-tap connection and would rather use a diode method of this mod.
