Aging Sucks ER Trip What Happened?

This pass Wednesday I was online visiting my usual forums including this one.
At 1 p.m. my arms and hands started to tingle, my head hurt.
I knew something was wrong.
I had the wife drive me into town to the fire station figuring it would be faster and I was pretty sure I wasn't dying.
Tingling arms, hands, head felt funny, jaw was aching for a while during the trip to town.
Felt tired.

The EMT's help me inside and my blood pressure was 200 over 135.
During the 30 minute trip to the ER they inserted an IV.
My blood pressure was so high they couldn't keep the IV from leaking so they put a syringe on it to act as a plug.
The EMT's said my heart was strong with no problems according to the EKG and I was in good shape for my age.

Blood pressure was 175 over 130 at ER check in.
Was in the ER for 7 hours while they ran tests and chest x-ray.
They found nothing.
ER doctor agreed with the EMT's about my overall physical condition.
My blood pressure slowly dropped to normal.
Took me 2 days to feel normal.

Now I start the cardiology visits to see what's up.

I'm at a loss why this happened.
I eat right, not over weight, use a tread mill regularly and stay active.

Just posting because it may happen to someone else.

:)

Glad all is ok.

The human body is a unique thing.  It might have been overcompensating for something.

They came up with the diagnosis of Hypertension in the ER.

But thats just high blood pressure, which was obvious.  They need to find the underlying cause.  Hopefully they figure it out.  Make sure to tell them if you regularly take any over the counter medicines or treatments.  I was having a lightheaded, dizzy feeling for a month.  My vision was getting blurry and just felt weird.  I was still able to workout and run daily without issue, so it was odd to me.  Turned out I developed a neurological reaction to an over the counter medication I had been taking for over a year without issue.  I think it was elevating my blood pressure also.

I’ve been taking blood pressure meds since I was 19. Sometimes it’s genetic. It could be a related to kidney problems, usually the first thing they check. I know what you mean about getting older, I used to drink Diet Coke like water. Can’t handle it at all now. I can still handle whiskey, so it isn’t all bad.

Update

This stated 12/ 20/18.

Did a stress test and a ultrasound of my heart.

Got to see the cardiologist today.

Says I may have a blockage in an artery near my heart.

I have a 13.8 percent chance of a stroke or heart attack in the next 10 years according to him.

Gave me 2 choices to check out my arteries.

Go into my arteries and look. Put in a stint if needed. Most invasive and biggest risk.

Another stress test with a die injected. Films of my blood flow around and in my heart.

Put me on statin, for cholesterol and a baby aspirin.

Want's me to think about it and  come back in 3 months to get my cholesterol checked.

At a low percentage in my opinion of a stroke or heart attack I don't know if any more test are worth it.

Was your cholesterol high? Mine was some years ago. Over 400 total. Traced back to a low vitamin D residual. Took a few yeas to figure that out. Anyway took 4000 units a day for three weeks and it went down to 140 total. Weird, right? I wasn't getting much sun those days.

Getting old isn't for pansies is it? Hey at least it gave you a warning, right? Glad you are Okay.

I went into the doctors office, told me my cholesterol was really high, I thought ummm ok. He looked at me and said that tension you feel in your neck is called the “Widow Maker” then he looked at me and said “ how do you feel about that?” I said it is what it is let’s fix it. He did echo on my heart, monitor w electrodes, stress test with die (negative on blockage but inconclusive) then went in and did the “Heart Catheterisation”, tried to get me to sign a form in the event something goes wrong, I give the doctor and staff the ok to break my chest open, I wrote on the form NO! and circled it then wrote just do the procedure I came in to do. Lol. Ok, moving along, laying there while having my manhood scrubbed with a big smile on my face. Then the doctor walked in, asked what day is it? I answered him and then he started, numbed the area, cut very small incision probed around allowing me to look at the screen as I’m laying there and before I knew it he was done. As I’m lying on the operating table butt naked and covered with some shiny silver sheet I saw him start heading for the exit and so I yelled out at him, he stopped looked at me and I asked “So, what did you find?” “He said nothing, you’re good found nothing”

Btw, felt absolutely nothing, literally

“Heart Catheterization” Dad has had two done in the last 20 years. He's 90 now and they want to do another. He tells me they don't hurt. They keep him overnight. Anyway at 90 he just smiles and says, "Why do they want to are they just curious?"
