Sounds like one of your sensors are causing the camera to come on.

Had the brake issue for over 2 months now ever since it got cold. Doesn't happen always but my engine light has been on for weeks from the several brake failures. Also it is not just a single ignition cycle I have had to retry starting the truck over 3 or 4 times to clear it after waiting 20 mins.

2019 Trailboss LT, took it in early Jan had all the recalls fixed, alternator cable, catching fire issue and supposedly the brake fix flashing ECMB? Something like that. Anyway by mid Jan was -15 degrees and boom brakes go out before work. Then every other day or sometimes 3 days between. Now it has been week and a half since they failed but has been warmer. Check Engine light has been on for a month now, brand new truck engine light on it tickles the OCD part of my brain seeing it everyday. Will cross my fingers on this yet again time consuming process. Oh and can not get into dealer until March 10th .

I would contact GM and have them start the investigation into it, get a rental that GM pays for and be safe.

I just had the newest one done yesterday -the update to fix the fix for the fix for the recalls.  So far 36hrs and no problems!

Have you used the myGMC app to remote start your truck with no issues?

Nope, not throwing money at Onstar to use their app but would if it was free like it used to be.  Going on 9 days now without issues!

Used it several times since the latest update. No issues so far! [emoji1694]

Well I have joined the crowd with Brake issues. Just purchased 2020 Trail Boss LT yesterday and left it at the Dealer yesterday. Have Service Brake Assist and Engine light. Drove back to dealer and they said they forgot to reset fault after software load, good to go. I also drove the truck 40 miles before warning came on. So forgetting to reset fault is BS. Well I made it 2 1/2 mile and the warning returned , back to Dealer and they gave me another new truck as a loaner it has acted good so far. No news today from Dealer.

GM needs to fess up and fix these issues!!!!

The waiting game begins.

I have a theory on the brake issue. I had a eerily similar problem recently happen to me on my 2009 Tahoe and I ended up having to self diagnose it as the dealership guys have no clue what to do except start replacing uber expensive parts. Believe me if it is on your dime (out of warranty coverage vehicle) they will be happy to spend thousands in just a few hours and NEVER EVER actually pinpoint the real issue. It will be fixed but you will be bankrupt in the process. GM will NOT allow the dealerships to do this to them no more than I would allow it myself, so they are still searching to find the root cause and it seems to be putting a lot of people in true jeopardy from having insufficient brakes while they fumble along doing part restriction until they find a root cause and a economical way to do the repair.

Here is my Theory: Issue is the ABS assembly underneath all modern vehicles, it has an exterior mounted control module with electric solenoids. The  control module to valve body gasket is bad which allows water to get inside and onto the solenoids. If you read back through the posts you will see numerous people mention automatic car washes. These car washes are forcing water at the ABS assembly and the leaking seal is simply allowing water into the control module and shorting it out.  Usually happens shortly after driving though large puddles / fording deep water or going through your friendly neighborhood car wash.

GM could easily replace all these ABS assemblies as a whole but the cost would bankrupt them so it is a self preservation move to stall until they pinpoint the issue. Once they figure out the exact problem is just a 300 dollar control module they will replace the individual part and add a better 100% seal gasket and everyone can motor on safely. In the meantime all these vehicles should be parked NO JOKE!  Here are some pics of a typical control module that has leaked.

Once the water shorts it out you loose Power Boost / Stabiltrak and ABS functions until it dries out a bit but eventually it will not be able to reset at all.

Note to GM corporate: just direct deposit the 10 million that I just saved you

Thanks!  Went ahead and received all of the recalls. Have used remote start (app and key) multiple times with no issues.

I just got the brake warnings and check engine when i started the truck. Turned off and restarted and the brake stuff went away, but my check engine light is still on. Ive never used the app to start, only used the key fob remote start once a while back just to see if it worked.  So its not just the trucks using the app that have the problem.

Looks like the ABS assembly is under the brake fluid reservoir.

Was scrolling through the infotainment system and noticed this recall info in the MyGMC area. On the previous screen it had a date of Jan 30th 2020

    • So I'm in the middle of a DOD AFM delete on my 6.2 L86 Sierra. I had a pick holding the tensioner but after I got the Cam phaser gear off I was cleaning off all the rtv and apparently I didn't have the pick seated far enough in. I bumped it and the tensioner sprang forward.  I think everything is good but I want a second opinion. The top of the tensioner is just a looped piece of plastic that rides in that channel right? There is no spring or anything is there? I got the gear and chain back on and it seems tight and everything looks right. I'm hoping nothing fell out.
    • My 2015 1500 LTZ Silverado suddenly won't go into 4 x 4 low. It will go into 4 x 4 high.
    • Yep, just a quick reference point.    My main point being I’d do a thousand other things before I’d pay 10k for a transmission.    Speaking in ignorance cause I don’t look at these trucks, what is it worth? 20k?
    • I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.
    • I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
