Nice rig towing that 7,000 lb beauty. I have the same rig in Pacific Blue.

Two weeks ago got a call from a nearby friend at 5 PM whose Corvette broke down immediately after a fuel stop in Georgia, about 225 miles from home here in Florida. The shifter cable broke when going into gear to leave.

Loaded tools and floor jack and hooked up my 23' Continental enclosed car trailer. This was the first time I hauled it with my PB '20 AT4. Hauled many times with my c06 5.3L Silverado, which did the job but struggled.

The AT4 pulled it superbly, empty around 3500, about 7500 with the Corvette loaded in, including its full fuel tank and a fully loaded trunk.

Long night. Got there at 10 PM, got food, loaded the car then took off after midnite headed home. Arrived 5AM safe and sound, albeit enroute to GA,  that one rogue orange rubber cone I hit when next to a 18 wheeler with nowhere to go in late night road construction. Truck got no damage but the trailer got it in the face and wheel well after it flew out behind the truck.

Scarab 30 Tournament behind my '21 6.2 with Max Tow Package. Boat and trailer come in at 9600 lbs without fuel or gear. Fully loaded with 280 gallons of fuel it scales at 11,200 lbs, just under max tow rating for the truck. I do not tow any long distances fully fueled, just fill up right before reaching the launch.

Nice boat.  Details please.

2018 Alumacraft Trophy 185 w/ Honda 150. Very versatile setup. Handles big water great and does just as well on small inland lakes.

That's a great set up.  Real nice.  I've been kind of on the look out for something a little smaller for smaller lakes, like a Competitor 175 CS or a Sport.  A local dealer sells Polar Krafts and was looking at a 179 Frontier WT.  Or a 16ft something tiller with a live well since getting in and out of small lakes up near LongLac Ontario can be challanging.

Very nice!  I'll bet she scoots really well too. 👍

I will rarely tow the boat as it will live on a lift as soon as they replace the old lift with the new one to fit the new boat, but here's what it looked like bringing it home. Truck is a bit squatty with it, as the boat/trailer are close to max, but it's got brakes on all 6 wheels so it handles and stops well for the small amount of towing I'll be doing.

I tow this frequently in the summer.   Kids started getting into water sports and my old “speed boat wasn’t working out well.   So I found this.  Don’t really need a ski boat, but I’ve always thought the old style low profile boats were cool, this ones all fiberglass, no wood, and a 350 Chevy.

Pic from 2019 before the Rhino-lined lower and steps.

Towed this 21 ft Tahoe from DC to Huntsville.  Didn't even know it was back there.

    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
    • I gotta say, I'm enjoying your narration. The troubles you've been having are amusing as you describe them. It's good to see that you're finally getting some satisfaction out the old beast though.
