2025 Silverado LT 2.5" motofab spacer in front with suspension max UCAs. 

1.5" suspension max rear block, also roadmaster active suspension which gave about another 1"-1.5" of lift. Peak suspension sway bar relocation brackets. 20x9 4Play OE Wheels cv65 +26mm offset. 285/65R20 Firestone Destination Xt tires.

Only rubs on driver's side at the front of the wheel liner just before full lock. I think it's due to the alignment, the shop couldn't get the caster on that side as good as the passenger side.

Changed up the wheel/tires combo for 2025

 

 - Lockoffroadwheels Baja Machined wheels (17X9, -12 offset)

 - Toyotires Open County R/T Trails (37X12.5R17)

Swapped out the 4p70 22s for some 18s. 

Fuel Vapor 851 18x9 +19mm with 295/70r18 MT Baja Exp. Used a 10mm spacer and riding on a cognito 3" with fox shocks

2025 GMC Sierra 1500, Denali Ultimate.   Just changed out my factory wheels and tires for a much better look in my opinion. The new wheels are a OE knockoff of the 22" Escalade wheel.  Tires are 305/45/22    

 

Factory height,  absolutely no rubbing whatsoever.

Finally the time came for new tires. Had 42,000+ on the original BFG KO2s and they weren't bald, but getting pretty well worn so I decided it was time. I will say that I was impressed with the BFG KO2s they were probably the best AT tires I've ever owned and I've owned alot of different ones. This time I decided to try a mud tire.....these are Nitto Trail Grapplers M/T:

They are 305/55/R20 and I have them on Fuel Flame Blackout rims 20X10 -18 and with the new tires there were issues with rubbing the wheel wells. I anticipated this and made an appointment at a nearby body shop for immediately after the tire purchase and mounting. it was only really a few millimeters that made the difference but they not only trimmed plastic but metal as well. The mud guards were a problem and so this time they went away completely. I had bought the mud guard replacements from Sharptruck.com and I had them installed, although they also had to be modified quite a bit.

I do really like the look of these new Nitto tires, however I would say that if someone wants a quiet ride they are not for you because they are noisy on the highway. I have not had them in the rain yet so we'll see how that goes.

Hopefully someone can help me out here.....  got a 2020 sierra elevation does anyone know if I put a 3.5 inch rough country lift on it would I be able to run 35x12.50 with factory wheels?  Am I correct in assuming I'll have to have some spacers? I believe 2 inch would work...correct me if I wrong.

Depends what your factory wheels are. 17's, 18's or 20's? And how wide. Needs to be at least 8.5" wide for a 12.50 wide tire.

New truck, 26 RST 4x4 with LZ0. came with 265/65/18 on it and I was hoping to go with 275/70/18 that I had on my last truck. Previously I had a 2020 RST 2wd with a 3" front lift (top strut spacer and 2.5" rear block) and had no issues. Was wondering if I would need to lift again to prevent rubbing.

 

If I were to lift it, would I need to invest in the half shafts that the trail boss has?  if I recall, the trail boss uses longer half shafts for reliability.

Swapped out the factory RST 20s for these factory ZR2 18s. The difference in offset is perfect for a Silverado without fender flares.

    • The problem with failure rates or increase failures are there’s people who don’t have a problem. What are you doing wrong they say. We had 4 5.7 GM diesel’s in the family when they came out. One was flawless. My uncle who happened to be the most abusive. Early rotary engines were known to use oil. I abused my first car so bad in six months I replaced the clutch, transmission and rear end. It didn’t use oil. My brother in law has a 2013 Tahoe and an older Yukon. The Yukon has 280K miles. The Tahoe around 175K. He runs them to about 300K. If his lifters fail before that time he would consider it a failure. My Hondas, I know people hate it when I mention them. Identical engines. One with cylinder deactivation one doesn’t have it. One shudders when the eco light goes on or off. Cylinder deactivation. But wait! According to the web. It can happen with lock up too. So now people in the know are changing the oil and transmission fluid more often. Then you read it could be a programing issue. So what do you do? There’s lots of money involved. I see three ways to deal with it. One only works if you don’t drive lots of miles. Lease, never get out of warranty. Or only buy older vehicles with a good track record. They all have bad runs. Usually when there’s a change. Even Toyota and Honda. 
    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.  
    • Thank You.   So far my new ride is making me look like a genius for going with the 3.0L, as my first fuel refill occurred over three weeks from when I took delivery.  This engine combination is very amazing.  So far no issues and had not done a regen yet.
