Factory 5th wheel prep

Recommended Posts

My dealer can get the curt hitch. GM part #19418687. I am trying to find out more information. Is it an A20, Q20? Complete specs. Its kind of pricy at $999.00. Etrailer has Q20 for 2019 at $823.00.

By moving the center point of the hitch behind the rear axle what is that doing to the load distribution onto the front axle for steering and handling ? I pull a 42 ft rv. I’m very concerned .. my 2019 pulls it great but did order a 2020

Are you ordering 8ft or 6ft9in box? Only the shorter box it is 2 inches behind the axle but, still in the center of leaf spring.  These two inches is no big deal when you look at how long the wheelbase is.  This issue has been blown way out of proportion by that clown mr truck.

It also looks like the ball is moved two inches but the puck system keeps the fifth wheel pin right over the axle. Installed a BW companion today.

Chev has a great video that talks about how and why they do this.

This is the hitch I use, https://www.pullrite.com/2400. I prefer it to the Anderson because it mounts in 4 locations, not just the goose ball.
This is the pinbox I use https://store.lci1.com/l07-air-ride-...bs-158777.html.
The combination is the tightest chuck free I combination I have found, isolates the truck and trailer from jarring over bridge joints and really works well.
Depending on you frame mounts there are several models to choose from.
Also I chose to get a "long jaw" which located the trailer further back from the truck cab for clearance

This is the prep bracket for the 19 and prior GM's https://www.demco-products.com/rv-to...-truck-bracket to give you IRS mounts for any industry standard mount hitch you wish.
This is the Ford prep bracket https://www.demco-products.com/rv-to...-prep-bracket/ which the 2020 GM bracket will be styled from, It will lock into the pucks just with slightly different spacing than the Ford.
I am scheduled to receive it the 18th of this month.

Do you have pictures of the B&W installed in your truck?
