Anyone know the % of sales breakdown between the engines?

Recommended Posts

I also don't have hard numbers but anecdotal evidence. When I was purchasing my AT4, the 3 dealers i visited had a total of over 90 AT4s among them and less than 20 were 5.3, everything else was 6.2.

I guess you could interpret this in 2 ways. 1st way is the 5.3s are selling at a higher rate leaving the 6.2s on the lot or the 6.2s are selling at a higher rate so the dealers are ordering more of the 6.2s instead of the 5.3.

Here's the breakdown of what is currently on my local dealer's lot. Gandrud Chevrolet in Green Bay, they seem to sell a lot of trucks. Vast majority of 5.3's which is what I was going to guess.

I think the GMC's lean a bit higher toward the 6.2 with the AT4 and Denali. Chevy is definitley heavy on the 5.3's.

Don't forget there are 2 different 5.3's.

Lower trims get the L82 that was available in earlier trucks (with AFM)

Higher trims get the L84 which is the new DFM version.

4.3 is only available on the same lower trims that get the AFM 5.3

On Sierra,

LV3 4.3  available only the base Sierra

L3B  2.7L  available in base sierra,  std on SLE and Elevation

L82 5.3  available on base sierra only

L84 5.3 available on SLE and Elevation, std on SLT, AT4 and Denali

L87 6.2 available on SLT, AT4 and Denali

LM2 3.0 diesel is available on all except the base sierra

Similar mess on silverado

My money is on the L84 version of the 5.3L as being the most common engine ?.

and now for 2020 we have a new 5.3/ 10A combo right ? interesting 3 different trans

Atleast for right now you can only get the L84 w/10 speed on the LT TrailBoss and the High Country.

This info came from the chevy build website. I wonder if anyone will upgrade to the LT TrialBoss to get the 10 speed and lower the truck/trade with a stock suspension from a LT?

It's also supposed to be available on the 4x4 Sierras from SLE up (standard on SLT up).
