Blew 6.2, gm denying warranty

I think he became a member in 2019.. like 9/13/2019.. I might be wrong. Typically on the app if it’s not the current year the format is xx/xx/xx, but his is showing xx/xx

2017 sierra denali, oil changed regularly, checked regularly. stock 6.2, has never burnt oil, no leaks whatsover. No catch can. Truck ran perfectly fine up until this. 8qts 0w20

didnt actually blow any holes. tech claims he dranined bunch of metal shavings. his words "blew the engine because of low oil"

I'm not so sure I buy the claim that 4 quarts of oil caused the engine to grenade.  However, I am not familiar with the Gen V.

 

I would go back there and look at the disassembled engine and look the parts over.  A lifter that turned in its tray could have started this, a rocker coming apart, etc.  Especially inspect the oil pump for wear.

they hold 8.5qt or so  maybe the place he took it too only put 4.5qt

This right there is what i mean.

First of all I call bullshit on being low 4 qts of oil, never getting any kind of low oil pressure warning or anything. No check engine light prior, no low oil pressure, anything?

Then all of the sudden stabilitrak messages pops up>grenades >check engine light

How many miles do you have, oil used and do you have records of the last place you had the oil change performed at or did your own?

The buck doesn’t stop there just because GM denied your repair. Call GM customer service, start a complaint, take your filed complaint # down and tell them that you’re not comfortable with the opinion from that dealership. Have another dealership pick it up and go from there. Do you have records and if you do, give copies of proof of purchase either from store you purchased from or ordered from. Witness statements can also be used in the event of a law suit but you can also look to make a claim on your insurance by checking if you’ve got additional parts warranty on your vehicle like I have with Geico, yes, sometimes you don’t realize you’ve got this added to you policy, call your insurance company and start the process if possible.

I’d like to tell you that I smell bs coming from a dealership but there are additional factors at play.

I change oil for several individuals of all types of different vehicles.  One that surprises me is a 2011 Impala with the V6 and 225k miles on it.  It holds 4qts of oil.  They come in for an oil change when the OLM gets down to 10%.  The past five oil changes that I have done on the vehicle I have drained exactly 1qt of oil out of it.  Surprised  the heck out of me that it ran with just a qt of oil in the sump and no warnings at all that it was low.  I told them they need to be better at checking their oil but it seems they just forget to.  Sooner or later it will go bad and they will be out a vehicle.  I'm not pointing fingers, just stating that you can't rely on the vehicle to inform you of low oil level.  If you do then it is usually to late.  Again, I'm not saying you let it get low.  Something happened and it probably caused the engine to consume a bunch of oil before it went bad. At least that is my thinking anyway. 

 

One other thing, if it was burning that much oil, one would think it would poisoned the CATS and they would have gone out as well.
