But in case anyone’s reads this thread looking for an answer, here are a few issues I found on the forum that cause a noise in the rear
1.) the headrests, pull them out and spread the prongs out just a little to snug up the fit
 
2.) Make sure your tire jack is secure 
 
3.) The seat belt covers in the c pillars are loose and can rattle
 
4.) And if your hearing a pop once in a while,  it’s your spoiler on the outside of your car
 
5.) lastly, check the chain linkage for the rear slider power wire. It presses up against the glass
 
 
 
 
Did you put something between it and the glass to help the noise?

Dealers are terrible at fixing squeaks and rattles.  I can not count how many times that  I have been told that they can not replicate the problem, not just on GM but all vehicles.  I have the same issue on my 2019 rear seat left side.  I will find it and fix it myself as so as I can.

I’m debating what to do, I have some 3m Tessa  tape I use for car audio installs that I think would work good. I’ll have to spend some time taking a better look to make sure whatever I do, do to it, does not cause any binding or issues

I cannot comment on the specifics if it would work but it looks like some tessa tape or even really thin window sealing would work. Just apply it to the glass and not the chain linkage for the wire harness and you should be fine. Double check that where that rests on the window does not get in the way of the travel on your window so you don't possibly rip the tape off and get it gummed up or jammed in the track.

If the dealer can not replicate the problem then offer to demonstrate.  If you and the dealer are unable to make it "act up" then at least it will be on record.  In the past I've had service advisors report that they were unable to replicate a problem but I can't ever recall being ignored on the second visit for the same issue!

If I had a second car And I wasn’t handy at removing car panels and etc from doing stereos I’d probably would take it to the dealership , but since I didn’t buy the vehicle from my local dealer, there about 50/50 on giving me a loaner sometimes. And I just can not run the risk of not getting my truck Back in time. I’m also scared of them touching anything on the inside lol. Maintenance I’m cool with, but I’ve heard horror stories off them just destroying panels either with scratches or leaving grease stains

While I was fixing the rear window rattle, I also noticed the metal tabs for the child restraints will rattle if there not pushed completely solid to the back. I shoved some foam on the front side of them to put pressure on them just now

Mine 19 had that rattle and so does my new 2020. Drove down 10 miles of washboard dirt roads this weekend, man did that rattle get annoying. OP did you figure out a way to stop the rattle and confirm it was gone?

So glad I found this thread, this has been driving me crazy.

To summarize, it's not the jack and not the passenger seatbelt (in my case anyway). I also have a power sliding rear window so I suspect that's it.

 

Please post any solutions you come up with. I'm going to tackle this on the weekend if no one comes up with something. Not sure what yet :)

I did find folding down the rear headrests got rid of some of the noise but not the main rattle from the window

Remove the rear headrest and flip the seat in the up position. This fixed the noise for me, well, temporarily until i figure out the root cause. If you slap the back rest portion of the seat with some force ( seat down) i was able to duplicate the noise. I think it might be the vents that let air escape when the doors shut or the headrest, ill look at the chain to since that was mentioned earlier.

Did you resolve the rattle? I ha e the same issue, only rattles when seats are down, if someone is sitting in the back seat or raising the seat it doesn’t rattle.  Dealer says it normal but I have a hard time believing that.

I'm inclined to think it's the cable housing rattling on the back window (like in the picture above). I think everything else that people are doing, like folding seats, having a passenger back there, or folding the headrests, is just changing the weight on the backrest and causing it not to rattle.

My plan is to wedge something small between the cable and the window. If that works I'll stick some velcro on the window (only the window, soft side) and hopefully that cures it.

If not, I'll really be stumped. I'll report back with results.

Had a similar rattle, had kids in back seat one day. They both said it was there head rests. Took to dealer, getting recall stuff done too, they fixed the rattle said it was the seat back latches.

    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
