i like my shins not to be in pain is one reason the other is that it will eventually rust its self in place, especially in cold climates.

point taken.. that environment isn't something that I would need to worry about.

Here is what I use to plug my hole. Sorry for the angle but as you can see no room to get behind for a better picture.

Wow...that’s cutting it close....lol.  Hate to see what a chrome 2 1/2” ball would do to your nice wall, if you weren’t paying attention.   Very nice and useful set up though....?

I got a Bully Tow Hitch Tail/Brake Light for mine, modified to be Brake Light ONLY.  I always have this in the receiver when I'm not towing.  As soon as I remove the hitch, the light goes in.

With it on my '18 Midnight Edition.large.5c8724e8c934c_RavensNest3-10-19b.jpg.8208fc5c5748872cd9505acfda85766d.jpg

Before I modified it to only be a Brake Light.  Stock, it works as a tail light (including during remote start), brake light, and when you have your Emergency Flashers running.large.5bdbce75c69a4_A1-NEWLightAssy.jpg.70780b5e307bfd5cc64fcdc15789d088.jpg

When I had it on my '15, about a year before it was totaled.

$20 - AutoZone

$11.84 - Walmart/Amazon

Plus $5-6 for 25 splice blocks and $10-20 for 2 bright RED LED Bulb (replaced the 1157 bulb).

The one (original, was $10 when I bought it in '06) that was on my '15, was stock, minus tail light wire, but spliced the one inside to the brake wire, both elements in the stock bulb would light with brakes.  That one was broken by the towing company that towed my totaled truck to the impound.  I'm going to repurpose the wire harness off of it to my the tailgate LED bar that I'm looking at getting and installing.  For the new one that I put on my '18, same wire mod, but replaced the bulb with a bright red LED Bulb.

I picked this one up off eBay for $25. Stainless steel. Bought a locking pin at O'Reillys for $19.d2fe451a40f4761e7e6459d6bf7c88c4.jpg

Seeing how you are a contractor, you should look at getting one of the Bolt locking pins.

Great part about them is you use your ignition key (Bolt is the manufacturer for the factory locks) to unlock them.

They also make padlocks, with the same system, which works great when I tow and enclosed trailer and need to secure it.

Only need one key for everything.

I've seen those. How much are they?
I must have 25 keys on my key ring. I keep it separate from my truck keys. Most are door keys for my store but I bet I have 10 different padlock/job box keys and different jobsite keys. The keys for that hitch pin I keep in the glove box. I have a lock box on my trailer with keys in it too . I got f' ing keys everywhere.

I get mine on Amazon because it is easy, figure around $30.00 for the receiver lock, and under $20.00 for the padlock.

Only drawback is, once you "key" them, you can not do it a second time, the locks lives with which truck you have forever.
