1 in 1,130 have the virus and still rising. How short do the odds need to be to be a concern? It's an open question not an attack. So far an almost an equal number of deaths to recoveries. 

Whats most concerning about this is the 9% mortality rate.  Italy's citizens didn't take it seriously and all those numbers spiked.  Staying in isn't fun, but I'd like to avoid the 1:11 chance of death.

The lack of traffic on the roads today is mind boggling.

It's like 3am in the middle of the day. Only things open around here (Twin Cities) grocery stores, home Depot, Menards, gas stations. Not much else. It's like a holiday almost. Weird to say the least

I haven't left the house since Friday. I did a little yard work today and heard very little traffic on the main road. I worked last week with just one other employee. We were working outside with distance between us for the most part.

I'll most likely go ahead and work till they shut down everything. I'm not going into any stores or gas stations if I don't absolutely have to.

Joke aside, how's everyone affected?

I still can keep working. I may have to do the job by myself w/o a helper, and to finish the job will take longer.

But, I'll still be able to earn money and not have to be on EI for the time being. It'll help to have the aid-money from the government directed to the people who are really in need.

Not that I think that I can go on forever, as long as the crisis is lasting, but I can try to do my part to lessen the impact on the economy.

I’ve watch those movies too. My life is pretty isolated anyway being retired. I use to travel, train people constantly. I drive to town. Walk around a track. Come home work in the yard, my vehicles, catch up on TV programs I ignored for decades. It’s heaven. I travel 3-4 times cross country to visit my father in law. Look like I’ll miss 2 of those. With the slow down of the peek of this virus. That concerns me he’s 89, I don’t have many visits left. He’s a jewel. Retired master sergeant. I can’t get enough. That bothers me more than my IRA. China Sucks.

Sure, you are doing it voluntarily, but it's the same difference.

Socialism is not a bad thing. People taking advantage of it is.

Just to ease the mindset, social economy is practised in Germany. It allows the rich to still get rich, but it also takes care of the less fortunate people.

The average age of covid death in Italy is 81. Life expectancy there is 82. Seems they are counting every death as a covid death no matter how they actually die...

I saw a show on Fox News the new revolution. A weekly Sunday show. Basically saying what I have. We’ll start to see more of those even as the affected rises. Our wonderful employees at congress are getting along like usual. Everyone wants to be the leader. I don’t understand the idea of raising the unemployment amount. I was on it a year once. I had this thing called a savings account to help me through. As far as helping business that’s a good idea. I would rather see them go back to work. Especially in areas less effective. With Congress dithering the stock market will be fun this morning. The hospitals get ready for the elderly heart attack victims as they watch their life savings disappear. The show goes on one trying to outdo the other on how bad this is.

I think I stated clearly that this was semi voluntary socialism. May work some for others. Bad for most. Pretty soon other people’s money dries up. No incentive. The last three years growth here has proven what unbridled capitalism can do. Look at the cushion the stock market had. Speaking of personal experience. Our 40 year old family business had remarkable growth in the last 3.5 years. All it took was easing some regulations. No hand outs no government money ( other peoples) money. Just the restrains. Two weeks shut down, no problem. Three years ago, disaster. Now multiple that by....... No I’ll stick with capitalism, unencumbered.

True. The amount of people that actually died from the Chinavirus itself is very small, probably less than 10.

Drive through town update. As I figured. All the store parking lots are full. People are fearing a lock down. So nothing has changed, people are just going to the store. People if you want to visit mom. Go, bring a chair sit out side. Remember keep your space touch nothing.

In the local news last night. Five micro distilleries whose business relies on in house bar/store sales have converted operations to making and distributing hand sanitizer. The one interviewed not only retained all employees but has added staff! 

 

My neighbor who is a local truck driver says this is the busiest he has ever been. Not his normal loads but truck after truck of medical supplies. He says, tongue in check, 'we will never run out of gloves'. 

 

O'Hare International is slooooooooooooooooow as is Midway. United and Southwest all but grounded.
