Let's install the "upfitter switches"

Once everything is loose and pulled forward You will finally see the holy grail the final screw. All that to get to this one screw! Undo it and you can now remove the bottom dash. From here I would do all you wiring and switch assembly under the dash then put everything back together and plug in the upfitter switches and follow the rest of the guide to hook it up to the battery. Hopefully this helps someone. I looked everywhere and so nothing of how to actually remove the bottom of the dash completely.

The dark coco color interior is called "Very Dark Atmosphere" Now look carefully at the part numbers as it depends on how your truck is outfitted with OR without a key type switch. I did my own taking my time and I can say you will have to disassemble the entire (or most of it) the center console. Do a search and a good article is on Diesel forums. I had to redo the entire writeup in MS Office as the photos were messed up. I again took my time. I utilized my own means and methods.

Quick stupid question.  In regards to the 4 "hot wires" that come off the switch panel, do I wire my light positive directly to them and ground to driver side battery?   Or do I still run this to a relay that is typically used when running accessory lighting etc.

You can put the positive wire directly to one of those upfitters wires as the upfitters already has relays as part of the kit. Remember there rating of each switch to 20 amps and 30 amps. You can usually ground the negative to the metal of the truck. Also you can select by position of the fuse asswmbly where its can be turned on by key on use or swap the fuse slot to activate power on at all times. Of course by pushing the button / switch on the group.

So I am pretty sure that I saw somewhere that the 5th switch is for a wire in the headliner for a strobe, does anyone know where in the wire harness that is so we can utilize it?  Also the switches are all on/off, is there a way to make any of them momentary switches ( for something like an air horn)?

I was able to do the install without removing the kick panel, If you pop out the switches which was very easy, and remove the fuses from the side as described, I had plenty of room to do all of the wiring.  And instead of screwing the module in place, I just used zip ties and it feels sturdy as heck. However I think if I need to there is enough room behind the kick panel to get a 1/4" ratchet with a small bit and screw behind the kick p[panel if you pull it out just a bit

I found the wire for the 5th switch using the wiring diagram on gmupfiitter.com.  it is pin 8 on the harness and should be green with a blue stripe,  Remove the connector, pull the red lock out (in the middle of the lock there is a tab) I used a pin removal tool, or you can use a tiny screwdriver to lift the locking tab inside the connector via the non wire side, and pull out the wire,

So this might be a stupid question, but can anyone confirm that these part #'s are the same between the 1500 and 2500HD trucks?

Confirmed, I got the kit in the mail today from gmpartsdirect.com, just got the old panel removed (not fun) and will pull wires tomorrow before putting the new panel back in, but did a quick fit check and everything lines up on my 2500HD AT4...

I  have been looking for the kit 84942073 for use with Jet Black interior and with push button ignition (+BTM).

Had it ordered with gm parts direct, but the order was canceled do to "back ordered and no expected date". Does anybody know if its available anywhere? Looks like most of the gm parts sites are the same pages with different names....

Thank you! So on that parts list you had to order 1 of everything? Or is there 1 part number that includes the entire kit?
