Fascinating. Immediately thought of the VW emissions scandal. This is easily testable among a lot of trucks, especially highway mileage. Putting the tin foil hat on, city driving could be a sneaky way to play with numbers. Not nearly as easy to gauge and with the role technology//computers play with all these new automobiles, some program that messes with slower stop/go speeds... no one would be the wiser.

Taking that hat off now, I have noticed a similar occurrence of putting mileage on my truck but I'm pretty sure that's because I really enjoy driving it and look down and think boy where does the time go.

pretty sure if that were true, and it was done intentionally and they financially benefited by shortening warranty periods that would be considered odometer fraud.

who was it a while back, honda or toyota? when it was found that their odos were inaccurate to the tune of a handful of thousand miles by the time it read 100k? it was by all accounts an accidental defect, they had to do a recall + extend warranties to all owners.

remember if you've changed the outer diameter of your tires without a recalibration your speedometer and odometer will be inaccurate.

MIGHT BE SOMETHING TO THIS AFTER ALL! -  They're talking about this exact issue on the Facebook AT4 page -

Someone even has a video of it doing it.

Hey guys. Everyone watch your odometers. I sat in my truck the other day. Running and in park. The mileage went up sitting there.

I can't see it.---Well I just tried to join the group.  Waiting for approval.

It doesn't surprise me.  I swear my 18 and now my 21 clock too many miles.  I just haven't tried hard to "catch" it.

A guy even posted a video of his truck running but not moving and the mileage changed. While just sitting there!

I said from day 1 that there was no way my truck was racking up that many miles!

I mean how many people could be imagining the same thing, lol?

Have you tried to catch it?  I keep telling myself one day I'm gonna run Waze or a gps and compare distance traveled between the truck and gps.  But then I think what if it is intermittent and I don't catch it.....

Not me but the guys who did catch it are saying it's happening while sitting still, running and in park.

Hmm, I could get a Chevy, run for the congress and get reimbursed for a lot of miles.

All the Chevys at the ranch are accurate. All of them have done trips to Henderson or Tucson, sometimes to Hermosillo. I haven't driven much on mine to really notice.

Speculating about and posting about baseless conspiracy theories is just food for trolls.

Thought this was the foundation of the forum???

How baseless can it be when people all over the country are reporting the same issues?

I seem to remember being the only one reporting issues with the rear suspension on my RST Z71 and was mercilessly mocked here until others reported the same thing. That was when it was a first-year model and the Chevy fanboys got all over me over it.

    • Looking up on the web you can the information that would seem obvious. You asked engine components to do more. You get more wear. The answer is they can last just as long but required more maintenance. Apparently having to change lifters, cam and associated components are maintenance or repairs. In some research the normal life span of valve train components are 80-100 miles with 3-5K miles oil change. So the next logical conclusion would be cost per mile. I use that analogy with my wife all the time with vehicles. My Odyssey is approaching 170K. The cost per mile will go up at 200K with maintenance. Looking at a low cost car. A K-4 with a 10-10 warranty. Selling my Ridgeline that’s about to hit the same maintenance milestone. My argument becomes not only I get worry free driving. But at no cost increases. Because I take the money from my Ridgeline and maintenance savings and other potential savings. I’m driving for free. So tying it with a bow. It makes you wonder. Is this a grand conspiracy by the auto makers? Raise the potential maintenance high enough. Buyers by extended warranty to 100K miles. Do the minimum maintenance required. Trade in at the warranty end. How long should they last? That question is what keeps people up at night. The answer is much more complicated than it used to be.
    • Could you cite your source on this?  I cannot find any reference to the US secretly taking the oil.  I find references that the US helped oil tankers move through the Strait of Hormuz, but nothing about what you're stating.
    • Same thought, also the everything doesn't have the details real photos do (talking about the noise in the photo)
    • Since the media YOU and your buddies are programmed to watch failed to mention this, I'll fill you in.   Trump admitted today that we've grabbed 150 MILLION barrels of oil from the Iranian tankers locked in the Strait by our Navy. We turned off their transponders, took them out to sea in the dark of night since they have zero radar capabilities anymore, offloaded every drop onto another vessel, and put them back by morning so no one was the wiser. That oil has been en-route THROUGHOUT the entire conflict.   Main reason he admitted this is to let even guys on our own side who joined leftists in complaining about the prices that he hears us all, and has taken steps to make sure this didn't spiral into a BAD situation ... just like the mainstream media has been PRAYING would happen, just so they could gloat. Amazes me how these people are rooting for the destruction of THEIR OWN HOME, just to make a President they don't agree with or like look bad! That's next level TDS!   I know your not capable of giving our President the benefit of the doubt, again due to your deep programming, but THIS is why oil never hit $150 a barrel as predicted by your programmers, AND the reason oil continues falling. Like I said before, Trump's got a plan, and this is proof of it. By the end of his term, we're going to be in GREAT shape for a change!   Since I just spent $3,000 this week on #2 heating oil and gasoline, the war most certainly is ending! 🤣   https://mxmnews.com/article/ba359ac9-2711-4851-92de-187f2400f2dd?breaking-trump-cancels-iran-strikes-deal-now-approved-by-all-parties
    • No leaks. Replaced the condenser 3 years ago. Problem was found to be caused by the A/C blend door actuator. Just replaced it and it's blowing out the cold air it used to when I bought it.
