I wonder if Frogzskins we use on snowmobile vents to keep snow out would work on the hose intake up by the top of the rad? They make them for side x sides and quads to keep water out of air intakes, so I wonder if they would work in this application or restrict too much air?

I have a 2021 Silverado trail boss and have had a similar problem.  Spent several hours driving through hurricane rain and some deep puddles at slow speed.   Nothing that was higher than the running boards.  Engine sucked in a ton of water and hydro locked. Waiting to hear from insurance adjuster.  Was disappointing being stranded on the side of the road watching  many different makes and models pass by seemingly unaffected.

Yes it is on the driver side and the tube drops down maybe 6" and then goes into the airbox and the air cleaner sits about 6" above the bottom of the stock air box where the intake tube connects so I see that no way water can get sucked up into the airbox bypassing the air cleaner with just driving through water up to the running boards real slow. I don't believe none of this as all of them say there were driving real slow. If the air cleaner got that wet like a wet logged sponge which then it would be totally clogged and the engine couldn't breath then they were plowing through very deep water at high speed so I cant see that much water making it pass the air cleaner to lock the engine.

 

I remember one time I was running an open air cleaner on top of my 4barrel I hit and big puddle one night and water came up and over the motor completely water logging the air cleaner motor starting running real bad due to the air cleaner clogged with water had to remove the air cleaner so I could make it back home to install a new one.

Hi Gus! What was the outcome of getting your truck repaired and working with GM to resolve your claim?

 

Unfortunately I just encountered this issue going through 5 inches of water at 30mph, getting towed as I write this:(

Gus hasn't been on here since June 2021. Probably got the motor replaced on the insurance company's dollar.

Truck runs great now no need for this forum anymore. 

I hate threads like this that don't have an outcome.

Gus stopped posting once he realized nobody here believed him and we knew his story was garbage.  

 

Based upon you mentioning 5" of water and 30MPH driving speed, I have a feeling this will be the last we hear from you as well.....

Yeah I haven't been in this forum very long and have read some absolutely ridiculous post, this being one of them.
