Avery Dameron Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I have found out that the truck won’t rev past 3500 or so rpm in neutral or park which makes it impossible to beat the box. Anyone know how to raise or delete that limiter?
KARNUT Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Got me guessing. I’ve done lots of drag racing and aggressive driving. I don’t rev in neutral past 3K ever.

Yeah, I don't think he is referring to anything we are thinking of. He said "or park". Unless it's some new fangled way of racing. I agree, 3k would be a maximum and then I'd have still be really upset/mad at the engine. PS...I do miss side clutching the old manuals. Edited December 16, 2021 by gemarsh 1
WeGone Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Someone wants to try for a new motor........

Beating the box is when you pull up with the boys in a walmart parking lot and make everyone aware of your physical dominance by beating their ears with the sound of American freedom 2

No reving it in park is just something a lot of trucks with exhaust do- “beating the box” is bouncing it off the rev limiter in park or neutral 1
Salsa De Piña Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Avery, can you put your father on the line? We need to have a talk with him. 2
JimCost2014 Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Just seems like it would possibly end like this after too many times: 1
KARNUT Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I’ve seen a few nascar races where a driver misses a shift. A few laps later BOOM. They have rev limiters too.
M1ck3y Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Gm doesn't let the engine bounce of the rev limiter; when you hit it the truck kills power. Interesting you can only hit 3000 though... I could be wrong but I think the k2's are 4000-4500? Rev limit exists because of valve float when there's no load on the engine. Not great for it..

High RPM with no load on the motor can rock the pistons in the bore and over time damage your engine. 3 hours ago, Avery Dameron said: Beating the box is when you pull up with the boys in a walmart parking lot and make everyone aware of your physical dominance by beating their ears with the sound of American freedom LMAO ok. You've got some growing up to do I think. 3 hours ago, Avery Dameron said: No reving it in park is just something a lot of trucks with exhaust do- “beating the box” is bouncing it off the rev limiter in park or neutral Sure, if you are a child. 1 4
