Pinstrip removal

Hey guys, I have 2016 chevy silverado and it has a factory pinstrip on it. Does anyone know if this is painted on or just an adhesive decal? I want to remove it but don't want to screw up paint. Thanks

I vote decal pinstripes. Painted pinstripes are an art and not cheap. Not designed for an assembly line.

Probably pinstripe tape and they are not factory, those are put on by dealers and are aftermarket.

Since probably tape will the peel off or is something an eraser wheel would be better tool to use.

I may peel off easy or it may not. An eraser wheel would make short work of it.

Do u think once pinstrip is removed with eraser wheel it will still show a line there from where the sun never hit that part of truck or is that not an issue? Thanks guys

Shouldn't be an issue, you could always just buff it out.

What colour is the truck?  A red truck will definitely show where it hasn't faded.  Silver or white, maybe not.

It's the tungsten metallic color.

I found out it's painted on. Not sure how to remove that now. Not a decal. I took 3m eraser to it and it did nothing.

If there is clear coat over the top of the pinstrip, it will never come off.

 

If it was put on over the clear and left that way you'd need to use some acetone or something similar.
