I would love for GM to come out with an SS version. Maybe something based off the custom but with the 6.2 or better and with slightly lowered suspension and so forth. Anyone else think that would be sweet or buy one?

I had planned to buy a brand new truck at a certain arbitrary point in my life that wouldn't make sense to most, if they release a RCSB with the 6.2 it will be that or an SS. If they don't do those things I will never buy a new truck lol

I am totally not a lifted truck guy. Never have liked them because of the hinderance on the performance side. If GM decided to release a new version of a supercrew SS truck with the stance of the 03-06 SS trucks.  I would place my order with them tomorrow.

Wish list:

22 with optional 24 inch wheels

ZL1 suspension (lowered)

paddle shifters with 10 spd

dual quad tip exhaust with selectable exhaust features

different modes of driving (sport, track, wet/traction, snow)

selectable 2WD, 4WD, and AUTO

Leather seats with suede inserts.....loved them in my SS Trailblazer

I got tired of waiting for an SS model so I sold my 03 SS that I bought new off the showroom floor, and bought my 19 High Country. I would definitely take a look at one if they came out with one.

Do you miss it?  I miss my SS Trailblazer. I know its not a truck but it towed my boat well and loved the lowered stance, and of course the Vette motor was fantastic

I actually drove mine on pipelines when I went on training detail. It was tricky at times and did more walking than usual. I still had my Z-71 but I just loved driving that trailblazer. To answer the question as long as GM has cylinder deactivation I’m out. I believe GMs outside the box performance days are over.

In a second!

I could see this as a starting point.

These trucks as a regular cab have a lot of potential!

Heck I’d also be happy if they just offered the 6.2 as an option in a Custom.

You can get the Custom Trail Boss with the 6.2 engine.

I just hit the configurator on the chevrolet website, and under Custom Trail Boss I could select:

6.2L ECOTEC3 V8 ENGINE WITH 10-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

If I would have ordered my Custom Trail Boss, instead of purchased off of the lot, I probably would have gotten the 6.2 instead of the L82 5.3 with the 6 speed that I have now.

Ya but it’s lifted and bigger tires. Hinders performance. We as “SS” guys want a leveled or slightly lowered truck that Handles more like a street car/truck than a “Hummer”.

Yeah I wasn’t aware you could get that with the custom TB but still not my cup of tea. Something likes this is more what I would like them to offer.

I've seen a guy rolling around in my county in a custom T-1 regular cab short bed. Traffic jammed me up and he got away  before I could catch up to him.....lowered 6-7 inches on some massive tires and wheels but not laying frame. It's got a great stance ! He appeared from behind other vehicles quietly and disappeared just about the time I realized what it was.

Probably totally useless as a truck but the ear to ear grin on his face spoke volumes !

I think I actually drooled a little as he went by ......

    • I’m doing an experiment on a vehicle I don’t have much money in. I’m going by the premise that after they last 100K miles they were no mechanical problems with assembly. Or defects with the parts. With oil changes by the minder for the first 127K miles when I acquired it. I quickly went through low mileage oil changes then settled on 5k oil changes with close to 170K miles on the vehicle currently. I did have the option to turn off the cylinder deactivation. I didn’t on this vehicle because in ECONOMY mode at least half the time. It should be a no brainer frequent oil changes are the key. The manufacturer gets away with the long oil changes with its severe service  maintenance. Just ask them what is normal.
    • Even set to "recirculated", the air pushes out and is hot. I have noticed that sometime it doesn't want to switch between recirculated/vented air. Say it is set to Circulated Air and I want to switch to Vented, when I click the Vented button, it just quickly lights up/clicks and immediatly switches back to Circulated. It's done this a few times now. So maybe it is an actuator getting stuck? But then, that doesn't explain the hot air when everything is off does it?
    • I wonder what the price is out at the coast, Big Sur or other out of the way locations as I bet they are charging quite a premium over the in land pumps.
    • Were you looking at the HD trucks on the GM website or the half tons as that makes all the difference. As far as I know there are only two options for the HD trucks and that is the standard 2 speed transfer case or the 2 speed transfer case that has the added 4 high auto feature and they put that transfer case by default into the LTZ and High Country although its optional in the LT and not sure if its available in the work trucks.    The half tons, that is where its been a total mess in my estimation for a few years now with most trucks below the top trim having the single speed transfer case as standard but with the option of having the two speed such as one would get by choosing the Z71 package, however then not being able to get the two speed transfer case with the towing package unless it was a higher trim truck AND had the 6.2 gas so one could combine the towing package gearing diffs with the two speed transfer case. Having said that if its a trail boss package then it gets the two speed transfer case but not necessarily able to get the tow package as it would depend on trim level and engine chosen. Believe me, people have bought the GM half tons assuming "of course it will have a two speed transfer case" only to find out after when they really pay attention to what they now own .... crap, there is NO low range !.    I don't believe Ford or Ram have gone that way yet with their half tons but like I say its been a few years now that GM has done this with the half tons.
