Only one thing thats more annoying than Auto Shutoff

...and that is the 3 beep burst that warns you that the key fob may have been left in the truck if you leave the truck running and exit the vehicle. Please tell me that there is a way to disable that very annoying function!

Don't know why you want to leave the truck running and leave but anyway when I am hooking up my trailer and the truck is running I just leave the driver's door open a little it doesn't beep.

i think the next annoying thing with the autostop trucks will be when you go to replace a failed starter, did GM re-locate the starter instide the trans bellhousing? so now you have to pull the transmission to change a starter..

I agree, it is annoying! I often leave my keys in the truck when the passengers are staying in while I go get something. If you don't leave the keys, the doors auto-lock and if they open a door after that happens, the alarm goes off...

No, but there is a heat shield that needs to be removed to access the starter and the electrical connections.

I don't have this issue. But I have the key fob reminder disabled. You can disable the key fob left in vehicle upon exit. It's under vehicle in the settings.

As others have mentioned and suggested there is an option to turn off key fob left in vehicle warning under settings. I turned it off there and problem is solved. thanks!

People say this, about auto start/stop wearing starters out faster. It’s been a thing for like 7 years now in GM vehicles. Is there any proof that it’s actually true?

I’m quite simple. Either the starter wears out quicker or it’s built stronger. Built stronger usually means higher cost when it fails. My son’s Malibu had stop start. The battery in the trunk cost 400$ to replace. It’s one of two. You think he saved 400$ worth of gas from stop start? That battery was required for stop start. My father in law has a new CRV. It has a turbo engine and stop start. My 15 CRV doesn’t. We get the same in town mileage. Most new vehicle gas mileage aids are to pump up the manufacturers total fuel mileage numbers. Little use to the end user. Especially when you add maintenance and replacement cost. The gig was up at GM with the chip shortage. Trucks without the chip for cylinder deactivation were discounted 50$. And said would lose 1/2 to one mile per gallon. Any of those components fail associated with that. Hold on to your wallet. What a scam. And yet people continue to shell out their money.

IMO something more annoying would be that if i need to move the truck even an inch i have to get buckled up or it wont shift out of park.

Unless there is a way to turn this safety feature off that i dont know about?

The pickups with auto stop/start do use a different starter and programming

yesterday I did a DoD deactivation on my truck via HPtuners, very simple 1 switch flip and its all v8 all the time. before this I was getting 14.5 mpg the previous week with DoD active. these past 2 days my mpg gauge is reading a full 1.5 mpg gain on v8 city driving

now i also did go into the trans and removed as much slip from the clutches, so this might also be where i gained mpg

so I'm now at a solid 16 mpg all day in the city ,while burning 91 octane..another benefit igained from removing the slipping clutches was a full 10 degree drop in trans temp. use to be 145 F, now I'm at 130 F degrees driving all day
