Not sure yet buying an inspection camera in a few days to look down the hole. Its cylinder 8 so too far in back to see by eye. Hoping cams fine. If so ill replace lifter and tray as well as clean up or replace the valves

Wow, that lifter has seen better days. I'd like to know how the cam looks. Considering you have gone this far into the engine, have you considered doing the DoD delete? If you decide to go that route, I can provide you with some feedback on the kit I used.

I thought of about the dod kit but I’m still hoping cams fine is good so I don’t have to mess with the other side lol

If I had to guess I’m thinking cam lobe got worn down caused the pitting on lifter and wasn’t “lifting” it enough for the exhaust valve to work properly hence all the blackness on valve and exhaust port for cylinder 8 which was giving me the misfire. But again that’s only a guess until I get the camera in there

Does the roller roll still?  Lots of them when they do that, the roller bearings in the roller have either gone or are going or some are missing.  The roller then starts to stick and grind into the camshaft.
