2027-chevrolet-silverado-las-vegas-dealer-reveal-leak.jpg

Just dropped a massive exclusive on the front page, and I want the forum's take on this.

Sources are confirming GM is showing the next-generation 2027 Silverado to dealers behind closed doors in Vegas starting next week.

But the real news? We’ve learned Chevrolet is aggressively pushing a 4-month inventory build of current 2026 models right now. For those who remember the 2019 T1 launch, you know exactly what a 4-month buffer means: Major factory downtime and re-tooling is starting this summer.

Are we about to see the Gen VI Small Block V8 debut? Are they going to do another "Silverado LD" legacy run to bridge the gap?

Read the full exclusive report and our breakdown here: https://www.gm-trucks.com/sources-2027-chevrolet-silverado-reveal-dealer-conference/

What details are you guys hoping leak out of Vegas first? Let's hear it.

I can't see them being all that serious about ramping up inventory after eliminating the 3rd shift in Oshawa.

Is Oshawa building LD's too?  It will be interesting to see what will happen in Fort Wayne, that's where most U.S. LD's are made I believe.

They currently are.  1/2 ton crew only.  I wanna say started 2024 model year?

US 1/2 ton production is double and crew.

Mexico is 1/2 ton regular cab and crews.

Are they dropping the double cab for 2027? Thought I heard that somewhere.

I commented about it somewhere that on one hand it doesn't make sense to me to add all the manufacturing and parts complexity for what is essentially a smaller crew cab. Just drop it and not have to make all those extra parts. The flip side is that because it is so similar maybe it isn't that much more difficult to throw it in.

I'm curious what the take rate is.

Of course, there is always that 1 guy, I have to have the smaller crew cab for this minor reason... :D

I bought a smaller crew cab in 2025. I wanted the longer bed with the same wheelbase.

One guy? I always bought extended cabs. Trucks used to be for work. The extended cab short bed was great for off road. I like the clean look of the hidden door handles. The back was big enough to haul people with the extended cab. I probably drove 1 million miles with that configuration. No one in the back complained. Bigger higher, longer ugly looking monsters. For some reason they became status symbols. Probably the biggest coup the auto industry perpetrated on the American people. And they are raking it in. I keep one around. I don’t travel in them. I’ll use a mini van for that. The soccer mom thing probably was invented by the auto industry to get people into more expensive trucks and SUVs. I got one just by chance. I hated it until I didn’t. I get the joke.

GM is releasing a new fullsize truck and a new V8. Of course I'm excited.

Then again, if GM started building new GMT800's again with a manual trans, 4x4, and V8 I'd be banging on the dealer's door at sunrise with cash in hand.

Not sure but I doubt they are dropping it?

So far the spy shots have all been crew cab and some regular cab, but not a sign its gone.

Ok 2... I had them (and loved them) too. But now, the handles aren't hidden and they could fit adults, but not nearly as pleasantly as the crew cab. I didn't miss the extra bed length when I had a short bed crew cab, but the added flexibility of the larger cab was a plus.

I remember when the crew cab short bed first came around in the early-mid 2000's they were awkward looking and now it's the other way around. Those little mini-doors look weird compared to the 'normal' ones.

Mini-vans are under-rated - no conversion vans are underrated. It's a rolling living room. A new Explorer Conversion van, on a 1-ton chassis, now with 4x4 and a 6.6 gas V8. It is literally the private jet of the highway. Plus, they cost LESS than a smaller, less capable, less roomy, less, luxurious Suburban, Escalade, Yukon...

Will I buy one - nope. (Explorer conversions do not age well)

It’s all about personal choice. We still have the much coveted 2000 7.3 Ford diesel and 98 5.9 Dodge Cummins. Both extended cab and bulletproof. My parents last new vehicles. They had no interest in anything else. They will never be sold. If I happen to stumble on a 2001 extended cab short-bed GMC I’ll probably buy it. I have a list of preferred vehicles I would buy for here on out. None new. It’s not about the money. It’s all to do with preference.

About the only extended cab I'd take. Crabwalking before it was cool. In the picture the rear steer angle is opposite the front to decrease radius, but they would also track with the front when changing lanes at speed. Another GM design way ahead of its time.

If they were to make more crew cab 6' beds I'd be willing to talk about dropping the extended cab, but right now extended cabs are the best way to get a 6' bed with incentives. I doubt it'll be dropped. I can't do a 5' bed. I'd really like an extended cab 8' bed personally. Biggest news on the configuration front is GM's Corebuild software their rolling out on the cars. Its supposed to use data mining to help with dealership configuration. I see too many white crew cabs sitting on a lot waiting for incentives, then they move with incentives and are immediately replaced with new white crew cabs.
