Windshield noise???

Hay guys i have a 2011 Silverado and when i'm driving down the road say above 55 mph i get some weird crackling noises coming from i believe the windshield. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Somebody told me it's the wiperblades,but think thats crazy. Thanks!!!!!!

Do you have a bugshield? If so it can create a turbulence like effect and cause rattling. The fix seems to be to remove the windshield trim at the outer edge put a clear RTV Silicone around the edge of the glass and then reinstall the trim. Hope this helps

yep... i did the silicon fix and have no noise. there's a big thread about it if you search. some people were installing double sided tape instead of silicon... that seemed a lot harder to install compared to running a small bead of silicon inside the channel.

I knew this was because of my bug shield, as the previous truck did it too. I just didn't know that the dealer would do anything about it.....

 

My fix was to turn up the tunes....only noticed the noise when someone rode with me and the volume was down...LOL

I took my bugflector off after a week because of this.

I haven't heard anything except normal wind noise from the mirrors...I have a Bugflector II on as well. Then again I usually don't travel much over 65 so maybe I haven't heard it yet. Good to know there is a TSB if I need to get it done

You know i have driven chevy's all my life,because my parents worked for gm. But i got to tell ya the prices keep going up and the quality keeps going down!!!!! Come on a 38k sticker price of a vehicle and there's noises like that,also dash has a rattle aswell. It's just not right,should have bought a Ford!!!!

Ok so does anyone have this TSB?
