What is this thing?

Does anyone know what this thing is? Almost looks like a microphone but there is a microphone vent directly above the drivers seat. This is in the 06 GMC Sierra I picked up on New Years Eve.

Not sure what that is, but the other microphone vent you mentioned, above the driver is not a microphoone. It is the aspirator fan for the climate control.

The thing directly over the driver's head in the headliner is a temperature sensor.

 

The thing in your picture may be a microphone.

<li>Yep, all the above. The device in your pic is the Onstar mic and the speaker looking thing above your head has a little fan in it and monitors your in-cabin air. I always thought it was the speaker until the fan on my 01 2500 started making noises.</li>

The Onstar mike is usually in the rearview mirror.

 

That looks like a aftermarket gadget of some sort.

lookes like a mic left over from a hands free. looks the same as the ones in our work trucks.

On the 800's I've seen them there in SLT's and Denali's. Identical

Can confirm its a mic on the gmt800s. Have one myself in my SLT.
