Finally got my truck [emoji120][emoji119][emoji126]!

Might be getting an ar 15 today. Anyone got any expertise on them ? This is my first foray into assault rifle stuff

They can be fun... They are best for smaller people and women since they don't kick much. If you have a good set of targets the AR will be a blast. I'd take a shooting course honestly to make the most of it.

I have more fun shooting my .30-06 but ammo is $1 a shot for it. I like the long range ability.

I was gonna set it up as a deer/hog/coyote rifle. Put a decent scope on it and a bi pod. Most of my shots are less than 150 yards.

My local store has a delton ar 15 sports lite for 500 bucks that im eyeing. Brand new in box.

After yesterdays sketchy cold start today was the first perfect start in years!! No hesitation at all and I didn't need to modulate the throttle. Maybe its because of how I'm used to warming her up but maybe a few hundred rpm's more would be better, instead of today's 1,000.

What rpm's do those of you with a <2002 gmt800 see on a completely cold start??

My 2000 was usually around 1000rpm. It never just cranked right up tho

I'd lean more towards one in .308 for deer and hog if it were me but then your talking a lot more $$$$

Took the truck out in the snow to/from work today. It handled South Mountain during the snow storm today just fine. Big trucks and cars were sliding all over the place. My Silverado did just fine. There was a jacked-up Dodge with large mud tires on it flying up the truck lane sliding all over the place. I was able to keep up and could have PASSED him easily going UP the mountain, but I didn't trust that he'd be able to stay in his lane. This truck will do even better once I get some KOs on it. Lateral traction in snow is a bit lacking with the stock tires. The KOs do really well. I had them on my last Silverado.

I'd skip the AR and get an old school rifle if you want a bigger round. There are nice .30 guns under $500, you won't find a very nice .308 AR under $1000. I'd definitely want more than a .223 for hogs.

I've got big caliber rifles lol plenty of em. 30-06, mosin Nagant (3 of em) etc

The ar would do just fine for head shots on a pig !

I got a 270 as well that is jam up on deer.

I don't really NEED an ar 15 but I definitely do want one. I want a pack of hog dogs as well haha. Too bad money doesn't grow on trees !

Put the ol' workhorse quad to work this morning at work:

Did a great job, but I managed to bend the frame on the plow somehow (torqued up on one side). Oh well, just an excuse to buy a plow for my other quad and retire this one to just trail riding. She's done a great job for the past 10 years, starting to take a toll on her

Also rolled over 8k on the way home

It literally just took me about 1 minute to replace my broken exterior rear door handle! You just take out the old one, slide the new one in and put the screws in, done.

Chris, I have been to the races there three or four times but never the March Meet. That is the one thing I miss the most about not living out west. :jester:
