Finally got my rear brakes replaced. Not quite as easy as the front or compared to the rear drums of my old truck. I also noted the parking brake shoes looked virtually brand new so I adjusted them so the brake sort of works now. I need to do some more adjusting. My driver side pads were so far gone that the squealers actually broke off....oops. The passenger side had a little...very little, pad left. Pedal feels better and the whole trucks feels better when stopping. I was actually amazed to see the little retaining washers on both side rotors. So either someone put new ones back on with the last brake job or they have never been removed before now...not sure which with 375k miles on the truck.

I noticed the same on my fronts when I did my first brake job on mine years ago. The inner pad on mine was thinner than the outer - dangerously thin, so tried to swap their positions ... like you could do for years and years on prior model year trucks. Of course, GM had to put a big block of metal on in the inner pad, preventing it from being moved! Was so pissed. Ended up cutting the pad so I could swap positions, just to get by until I had the time to replace the pads. Boy, I'll tell ya ... :banghead:

I'm glad they went back to drums on the rear of mine. So much better than the "asshat" rotor/drum system for disc/ drum parking brakes. Up here in the northeast, those things are a CONSTANT pain in the ass. Always rusting out, seizing, and breaking, parking brake shoes delaminating, little retainer bolt busting off inside the axle assembly ... total horror show. With the drums, as long as you have the spring compressor for that large, single torsion spring, it's literally a 5 minute job per side to swap shoes.

I hear you, my driver side rotor definitely was worn on one side more then the other. My next step will be to do a full four wheel bleed to get new fluid through the whole system. Shouldn't be too bad as I've done it before on my previous truck. Just a matter of getting the time to do it...

Yeah, I'm due for that and coolant, since I'm going on year 9 in January. When I'll have time to do it remains to be seen ...

Pulling a shanty to Fargo.

Went the wrong way through CHICAGO. Never taking 294 to 290 to 90 to Wisconsin again. Regret not taking 294 to 88 to 39 back up to 90. Soooooo many less FnAholes.

My driver's side Ox sensor gave up the ghost finally. First, it'd throw a heater circuit code, and now it's throwing a circuit efficiency code. Good thing I bought a new one 3 months ago....

I looked at the sticker on my windshield and the last oil change was at 29 789km and the I looked at the odometer and it reads 48 762km I guess it's due for oil change opps lol.

I want to stuff a 6.0 in my truck so was thinking just for the heck of it I sould see how long a 5.3 can go on a oil change before she goes.

I have written off getting a 6th gen ZL1 now with all of my recent complaints. I would have a 5th ZL1 already if I hadn't stumbled across the bird and/or the 6th had taken another year. I'll be keeping an eye out for the supposedly leaked BOSS 302 that is supposed to be coming next year.
