I just had a my battery replaced by an advanced auto store. I drove away and turned on my a/c and found hot air bblowing on drivers side and cold air blowing in the passenger side front vents. Can't figure out whate going on.Does anyone have any input.?

Welcome to the forum. what year and what model? Common issue for some is the blend door actuator failing or starting to fail causing no a/c on driverside. Usually shutting the truck down and restarting restores the a/c.

oddly enough its disconnecting the battery and reconnecting that the HVAC doors perform a relearn procedure automatically...

if that doesnt work, have it scanned for codes and diagnosed as some actuators are a PITA to replace and a guess would mean crazy money spent as dash removal is not a DIY job

If you don't allow the recalibration to complete before starting the vehicle or making HVAC adjustments, you can have the problems you describe. Trying the calibration again may fix you up. Try disconnecting the battery again for a few minutes. Reconnect it. Or remove under hood fuses HVAC/ECAS and BLWR, remove instrument panel fuse HVAC 1 and leave all three fuses out for a couple of minutes.

Then turn the key to the on position, but don't start. Don't touch the HVAC controls. Let them do whatever that want to do. Air flow may change outlet points during this time. Wait about 1 minute. Turn key off. Sometimes opening and closing the door can make a difference as the vehicle controls see this as "cycle" completion. Next start the vehicle and drive it a short distance and see how it performs. You may indeed need to replace an actuator.

It needs to be re-calibrated. Sometimes it takes a few cycles for it to start working.

Should you need to replace the actuator, the drivers side is easy. Its the passenger side that you have to take the dash apart.

The drivers side is on the 1st page of this link. The passenger side is on the 2nd page.

When my wifes truck did it, just shutting the motor off for a second fixed it. Maybe next time, if there is a next time, I'll try the battery disconnect/relearn procedure. Good info.

We have the same repeat issue on the drivers side, blows full heat while the passenger side is full cold. We had the driver's side blendoor(damper) actuator changed 14mo ago. Started noticing infrequent problems again about 6mo ago. Now it has been continuous for about a month, We have discovered that the blendoor actuator is susceptable to extreme ambient temperature conditions. We realized we first started having malfunctions after the vehicle sat in high reflected heat on top of a parking structure roof in downtown L.A. Last week we were in the mountains and outside temperatures were near freezing and our bledoor problem went away for a day until we got back home and started it the next day.

If you take it to a dealer... I had both of my actuators and a control head changed for the total of $1400

Whenever working on a vehicle that requires removing the battery, I just hook up a battery from my bike or lawnmower to the main feed terminal. Saves a lot of time and hassle to wait for the vehicle to "Relearn" everything!
