6 ft bed would be nice but that would be cutting close to fitting in the garage. HMMM time for a new house with a larger garage/pole barn???6 ft bed would be nice but that would be cutting close to fitting in the garage. HMMM time for a new house with a larger garage/pole barn???

that's what i want too :fingersx:

I'd love to see a 4.5L Duramax in a 1500 Suburban with an 8-speed. Preferably with 25mpg highway, 450 ft-lbs torque, and 380hp.

Any new info on the 2014 trucks?

apparently they went back to the drawing board on the interiors. it seems that leaked photo from a month or so ago was the real deal...

and rumor is the two-modes have been dropped.

The 6' bed on the 1500 CC is happening so no need to worry about that.

I just want the 4500 Duramax/6L90 Max Trailering package truck! Lol.

how about a crew with an 8 footer? like the HD's have?

and the babymax would be friggin sweet for sure.

1500HD crew cab long bed with a 4500 Duramax and Allison 6speed.....mmmmmmmmmm

but, its a pipe dream, when was the last time gm was the innovator with anything important? and i think part of the issue is the ram and its new 8 speed hemi caught gm with its thumb up its butt...

The new trucks already were getting an 8 speed, how did the Ram surprise them? GM powertrains right now are better than what Ram will be getting.

There are things we are not allowed to discuss here. Some of the insider info forums have new information on the latest developments. Hopefully the current product delay has steered GM away from the near K2 disaster that leaked.

And where are these "insider forums"? I am very interested in the new trucks. I will be buying something next year, just not sure what yet.

There is way too little of a market for a crew 8' box 1/2 ton so I wouldn't hold you're breath.

There's no current talk about using the 4500 Duramax but considering that there will only be 1 V6 and 1 V8 for the 1/2 tons not to mention the popularity of the current nht package trucks, I'd say that it's now or never for it.

The 1/2 V8 gas CK2XX trucks are scheduled to get the new 8spd as well. Word is with that combo current testing is yielding 24+ mpg on the highway with 3.42 gears.

Nice cop out. Unless you can show some sort of proof of this I'm calling BS on your statement since that's all you usually spew anyhow.

because everything ive read is that the new gm's arent getting an 8 speed at launch. it will be a slow roll out like the 6 speeds were.

the ram 8 speed will be in the 2013 model year across the board- a full year before the new gm's even launch.

i know...but its nice to dream...

and as for the 8 speed testing, with that fuel efficiency i can see why theyre dropping the two-mode hybrids. any idea what the city numbers are?

i think the 6 speed is great but an 8 speed? really?

i have no idea but can someone explain how an 8 speed would be better?

i really hope they put that new ipad thing that's in the new cadillacs in the new style trucks

They can get away with a lower first gear for acceleration and a higher overdrive for efficiency. It's all about being able to be in the right gear- I always felt the 4 speed in my 03 was never right- to pass on the highway you had 3rd which wasn't enough sometimes or second which had the engine screaming. Now with the six speed the ratio spread is tighter, the engine has a better chance of being in a gear that is not too high or low. Eight gears will tighten the spread further.

i agree with that.. my 4 speed sucks on the highway.. in 4th gear if you come to any sort of incline you will slowly lose speed until it shifts to 3rd and if you floor it it makes a horrible shift into 2nd and screams

The answer is simple: more gears is better. There's a reason semis usually have at least 10. Gives you a better selection, which not only provides better economy but also gets rid of the slamming described above... I'd love to have even a 6 speed.
