Just curious, how do you like your Burbans? I am thinking of getting one to haul my new camper, if I don't decide to get a 5er instead. lol Looking for info on handling, gas mileage, towing, etc. Thanks!

I have an 06 Yukon XL 1/2 ton 4x4 with a 5.3 it now have 191,000 miles on it and it is still in great shape. I have towed my race cars to the track with it and it does fine. We also take it on my wifes family vacation every year. This past summer it had 4 adults and 4 kids inside with the rear filled to the roof (including a 3 drawer tool box loaded) and a 22' Car trailer on the back loaded with 4 Quads and 13 peoples luggage and gear for 9 days. It got about 14 MPG on that trip and never skipped a beat. All in all a great vehicle

I don't own one, but my friend has a 2004. It's a 5.3, Z71 and fully loaded with leather, Bose, and a tv. Recently took it on a trip to Colorado, and it's the perfect road trip vehicle. It got just over 14 mpg on that trip, not bad for mountain driving and cold starts and long idles to warm up in temps well below -20F. I know they have pulled a car trailer with a Dodge 1500 back from Indiana with it, so it has pretty good towing ability. All in all a great truck and there are some real bargains to be found sometimes. I don't know whether I'd buy one specifically for towing though.

Yeah I'm looking for details on 3/4 tons, not half tons. Thanks for the info though!

Thought maybe I can help.I have a '95 K2500 Chevy Suburban with a 454 & 4L80E trans,G80 etc.I've had it going on 5 years now and love it.I tow a 21' toy hauler full of dirtbikes, food, gear, water,a portable Honda 3kw generator, gas for the bikes,a bbq and assorted stuff necessary for 3-4 day weekends in the southern california desert.

We load up the rear of the burb with gear bags & campfire wood and what ever else gets thrown in at the last minute.Normally we have 4 or 5 grandkids plus their mom and grandma(my wifey). This(and probably all 3/4t burbs)can handle all the weight(trailer is about 8,000lbs loaded)easily. It's very stable at freeway speeds, tracks straight as an arrow and pulls my trailer nicely. In June of 2011 we towed the trailer up to Medford,Or. and back without incident. We had the A/C going most of the way and only slightly did the coolant temp rise.

Travelling many hours in it is no prob as we all enjoy the comfort of the seats which I think are excellent.I just set the CC at 60 and sit back and steer.I highly recommend a Suburban for hauling alot of gear and people, throw in a trailer....no prob.

The only setback is the mpg......not very good.I got about 8-9mpg going up to Oregon :nonod: but we got there safe and sound.

Here's a couple of pics of my rig...

Hope this helps

Thought I'd add this.....with the third row seat removed and the second row folded down a 4x8 sheet of plywood fits easily.
